Bracket ID help February 08, 2007, 09:21:48 AM I need help ID'ing a bracket from an '83 LS (removed prior to my getting the car). I've had the motor completely rebuilt and have put it back in the car. This is the only bracket I can't figure out and basically the last piece of the puzzle. I have pics to email. Thanks to all. Bracket ID help Reply #4 – February 08, 2007, 06:24:43 PM K, I got the photos....here they are. I've not seen it before...it does seem to have a 1983 part number. What engine is this from, 3.8 or 5.0? Quote Selected
Bracket ID help Reply #5 – February 08, 2007, 10:50:04 PM It's from a 5.0 (I believe a Jasper rebuild - everything was painted Jasper Grey). Well if you don't know I can guarantee I'll never figure it out. I've spent 3 nights on and under my Cat trying this thing from every angle possible. Thanks for the reply. Quote Selected
Bracket ID help Reply #6 – February 08, 2007, 10:51:53 PM I've tried X-ref'ing the stamping number to various parts places but with no luck. Quote Selected
Bracket ID help Reply #7 – February 09, 2007, 10:47:56 AM This is a long shot, but does it hold something for the intake? Perhaps it's a mounting bracket for the fenderwell intake housing. Quote Selected
Bracket ID help Reply #8 – February 09, 2007, 11:04:08 AM If I were to guess, there's a cutout on one tab for a cable to slide into. And the crooked tab is bumped out to clear something..maybe it's an engine hoist bracket? I've not owned an '83 before but generally 1983-85 5.0 engines are nearly indentical looking, with the exception of the EEC-III stuff for 1983 only. Quote Selected
Bracket ID help Reply #9 – February 09, 2007, 02:11:28 PM Good ideas gentlemen, I've spent most of my time aroud the PS pump, AC comp, and air pump. I did try it on the intake because I thought the "C-slot" fit some type of linkage (it looks like the throttle linkage slot. It's prob very obvious but I've been looking at it too long (that forest/tree syndrom). Thanks for your time (and please keep thinking). Quote Selected

Bracket ID help Reply #11 – February 11, 2007, 08:12:57 PM Actualy I know exactly where that goes. It holds the smog pump on. Quote Selected
Bracket ID help Reply #12 – February 12, 2007, 09:11:19 AM Well, the number is E3YE-9C291-BA (which I think is a "Lincoln" part #). I'll try it on the smog pump - which might explain where the last little knee brace also goes. Thanks to all for the info - GREAT help. Hope I can return the favor. Quote Selected
Bracket ID help Reply #13 – February 15, 2007, 01:43:42 PM Thanks CougarSE for the info. FYI for anyone esle, it goes on the back of the air/smog pump. The long tab with the 90deg bend fits over a horizontal stud at the bottom of the block, the offset tab is for the bolt into the back of the pump. The slotted tab fits to a stud adjacent and below the first spark plug (passenger side). It's slotted because with the three connections in three different planes the only motion it has is to be rotated in place to the stud. Thanks again for the assistance. Quote Selected
