1" is the max IMO. Just enough to get air in, but keep teh lines of the car and still look stock. Unless your racing, I'd keep it under 2" or even stock

Does anyone even make a 1-2" cowl hood for these cars?  I would like to see what a 1" cowl would look like (I think it would be about perfect) but it seems that the smallest is a 2.5" and I don't think I've even seen one.  US Body's hood is a 3" correct?  That seems to be the most popular.

i've seen a 2 inch cowl lift before, and i've seen 4in lift.  the 4 looks just like a 4in mustang cowl.  the 2 looked just like the bod lines in the hood was raised 2 inches.  it looked good to me.  a 1inch lift would prolly be makin it yourself.

I built a 3"-3.5" cowl For mine:evilgrin: .  I think it looks good.  I also built a 1" cowl that was on baXo's silver coug.  Looked sweet, it just wasn't good build quality.:hick:  Now that I have built a few and know what I am doing, I plan to try it again.

Well I think that's the general consensus of the people that have replied here so far. I know a lot of people that want something other than stock but are tired of the ubiquitous Turbo Coupe hood. To each his own. We're just lucky enough to have several companies that still make them for our cars. So if you want one, the opportunity is there...if not, that's fine too.

It's a 3.5" Dominator hood from U.S. Body Source. It is not a true cowl hood as the back section is not open. The underside is finished though. It is, essentially, for additional clearance and for show...which is exactly why I bought it (1" phenolic spacer on a Cobra intake).

thanks for the props man.

I still need to do a bit of touch up work to this hood (Primer wasn't dry enough and reacted with the basecoat) but it got too cold to finish it.  At least it didn't seperate from the base after a couple of miles though ;)  And my cowls ARE functional. LOL.  as for making money building them?....  doubt it, but I am open to serious offers to make them. LOL
