Aftermarket grills January 11, 2007, 08:18:14 PM Just getting a little bored with my stock 83 grill. I'd like to try an aftermarket open grill with the floating emblem like they made for a while in the 80s but so far as I know no one makes them anymore. Does anyone know of some other source or maybe one of you is making them in his garage? Quote Selected

Aftermarket grills Reply #2 – January 11, 2007, 08:48:58 PM Hmmm. I'm guessing you hollowed out a stock grill? Got a pic? Quote Selected
Aftermarket grills Reply #3 – January 11, 2007, 08:56:47 PM When I do the paint/bodywork for mine in the spring, I'm just updating to an 85-86 grill over my 84. Not sure if thats the change you want, but it's an easy mod that keeps the look, but changes it up:nkhk: Quote Selected

If you want a custom grille other than that, you'll have to make one and be resourceful... Quote Selected

Aftermarket grills Reply #7 – January 14, 2007, 11:45:11 AM Been giving some thought to it and doctoring photos to get an idea of the effect and I think what I'll do is eliminate the vertical bars from the grill to get rid of the crosshatch look. I figure I can take care of the scarring with some filler that I can then paint over. What do you guys think? Quote Selected
Aftermarket grills Reply #8 – January 14, 2007, 11:46:31 AM I like it. Do you need a spare grill to try it? I have a chrome one if ya want Quote Selected
Aftermarket grills Reply #9 – January 14, 2007, 11:51:57 AM Thanks I have a grill kicking around already, I replaced it because the chrome was peeling in one place. But it'll do nicely for cutting up. Wish I knew why the image is so pixelated, it isn't on my computer. Quote Selected
Aftermarket grills Reply #10 – January 14, 2007, 12:52:00 PM hwo big is your grill? height by width. if you want to do mesh i can make one for you Quote Selected
Aftermarket grills Reply #11 – January 14, 2007, 12:55:05 PM I think I'll play it by ear on the mesh. This design might be fine without it. Thanks for the offer. Quote Selected
Aftermarket grills Reply #13 – January 14, 2007, 06:11:14 PM Quote from: cougar86_89;123796cool cool just an offerdude i never was a fan of the older grills (pre-87) [jmho] but that mesh grill is nice man. and i think that grill you guys are talking about with the vertical bars taken out looks good.actually the other day when i saw an all black crown vick the front resembled an 87-88 a tad bit, and the square grill was painted black to match the car. the grill didnt stick out as much as the 83-86 grills on our aeros but i thought it looked really good. i dunno if you guys are into vippu cars. you should check them out, but they're pure luxury orented, and i think a blacked out crown vick (2006-07) would look NICE b/c of the grill.
