whenever I have to lift the engine in my 79 cougar (5.0) I undo the mounts and jack up on the trans bell housing.

I usually put a big flat piece of wood on my floor jack and lift under the oil pan.Never had any problems with that in all my years.

What's up!:grinno:
I'm new to the board. I agree with the other guys. I've used a bottle jack under the balancer and also unbolted the nuts off the trans mount and the bolts on the fan shroud. Sometimes the mounts are a tight fit and lifting the motor helped some;) If you don't mind me asking where did you get your mounts from? The parts guy asked me if my vehicle was Canadian because that's all he showed for a V-8:rollin: He sold me 2 Doan 2661SR. I hope they work, since the Ford guy told me they were discontined. If my memorey serves me I believe there were 2 separate Ford #'s though. I just thought you might have some part numbers handy.

Thank much
Mike
