I can't decide...2000 Grit Satin or Polished? Reply #22 – January 05, 2007, 09:43:38 PM I spend alot of time wet sanding with 2000 grit paper. I found a place on the internet that sells 2500 grit so that is next. Then I finish off with Mothers creme polish. Quote Selected
I can't decide...2000 Grit Satin or Polished? Reply #23 – January 05, 2007, 09:53:59 PM So what would you recommend for polished wheels that aren't quite polished anymore. Have tarnish from 2 winters. Best I could do was a nicely shined AND tarnished wheel. :) Quote Selected

I can't decide...2000 Grit Satin or Polished? Reply #25 – January 05, 2007, 10:01:57 PM I will tell you what I do. I start out with 800 grit if the aluminum doesn't have any gouges or deep scratches. Use plenty of water. Then go to 1200 grit, then 1500, and finish off with 2000. I will say, the more time you spend on the lower # grit paper (wet-dry paper at the auto parts or paint supply stores) then the better the overall finish will be. I spend a great deal of time with sandpaper but man is it worth it! Hope this helps. Quote Selected
