lol if that the rotor you got they did give you a chevy rotor. it's a 1974 & down point ignition rotor part number RR169R .. check the box and see what it says..

Napa book have bin off meny times and when i needed parts i would have to help them out with thw screw up..

my question to you is do you have a TFI distibutor "distibutor mounted module" for 1985 and up EFI engines.. or dura spark distibutor.. "fenderwell mounted module" for 1985 and down carb engines..

beleve it or not  most people think ford uses very few style ignition parts over the years and in most cases thats true. but infact some cars from the mid to late 70's to the early 80's cars had wacky a$$ setups check it out 1980 ford LTD

heres the link i put in "i don't know" for everything so that it would list all the parts for all the difrent options..

has anyone ever seen any of these rotors before?

oh and as for having a V6 distibutor in a V8 motor not going to happen it won't fit right. never mind the dizzy unless you try to screw the V6 dizzy on a V8 distibutor oh boy! missfire city!!

Well, they day after x-mas, I'll just pull the  thing out, take some pics, then find out once and for all what's going on. And you guys say thats a Chevy rotor? Thats the style they gave me. According to the box, the part # is "FA142SB" Now according to the Napa website, thats http://www.napaonline.com//MasterPages/NOLMaster.aspx?PageId=470&LineCode=MPE&PartNumber=FA142SB&Description=Distributor+Rotor

Your car can have either a push on or bolt on rotor. You have to know which your vehicle has before buying one.

the only reason i said it was a chevy rotor was because thats the picture you posted and yes i know that you sayed it looked something like that ;)

anyway

JeremyB is corect for your year car 1984 you should have one of those types if rotors..

and an FA142SB is a 6CYL rotor..

JeremyB is corect for your year car 1984 with a 5.0 you should have one of those types if rotors..

either an  FA144SB or an FA153SB  those are NAPA part numbers..

and an FA142SB is a 6CYL rotor..

What all this boils down to 84fila is this.

what jeremy, nick and I are saying is you are out of the ballpark on what is normal on the engines we are use to.  You are infact the only one that is using that type of rotor and even though it may work,, its not right for the "TYPE" of dizzy you have.

NICK
He has a TFI DIZZY just like anyone else running the 5.0 or 3.8 on this board.
For some odd reason, someone thought they had to make use of the threaded holes for a rotor button and thats probably the case.

84fila
we need pics of that dizzy with the following views.

looking down on the dizzy with and without the rotor
(there are reasons for this .. need to see if you have the lockin hole for the rotor button like all three of us mention.  If there is no hole to lock in the rotor,, something is screwy.

we also would like to know what size oil pump shaft your running.

Id doubt seriously you have a red headed step child of an engine.  Its probably just a result of someone mix matching parts to get it up and running.

Ill say it again,,, that cant ,, isnt and AINT the right rotor for your EECIV/TFI application.

as said earlier,, the V6 rotor will not interchange with the V8 dizzy.  Im really not sure why some of the first responses indicated it would.

 :D

both of those rotors are for an 1980 V8 LTD

FA126 & FA127 depend on the options ie which distributor it had..

there where meny options in the mid to late 70's to the early 80's..
in those days ford did a lot of experimenting

So fling open the front door, stomp straight to the parts counter (mumbling and swearing to yourself under your breath), slam the old rotor down on the counter, and loudly demand to speak to the manager! :D

digging up the old here, searching for info on that dual point rotor the v6 supposedly had available and came across this and got me all confused.

did the 3.8 v6 ever have a bolt on rotor? every one ive seen had a push on one, and the all of the stock motorcraft ones ive seen had "4cyl&6cyl" cast on them. i tried to put a v8 "push on" into my distributor just for shiznits(since i had a v8 dist. laying around) and there is no way it would fit under there.

My '85 has a bolt on. The '87 is push on.
