This is an idea i have for my 88 cougar, not very hard to do.
where the tape is will be filled , the side lights will be gone.  below on the molding, where the tape is, cut out a 6 inch by 12 inch area and place an LCD light for the side marker which is required here..
I hope i explained this right.
I also know that some poeple will think this is stupid, a waste of time, or just done right wrong.
Hey quess what. everyone is differant and everyone has differant ways of working and doing cars. is everyone was the same we would all be driving Volvo's
see ya

6 inch by half you mean, right?  I'm planning a similar mod.  Thinking of filling the entire plastic area w/sheet metal w/ 64 impala lights frenched in. If I need a side lamp, I'll probably just put a small light even w/the rears.  In the front, I'm hoping for 2000 impala light assemblies, but they're $150.00 a piece, which is a bit spendy just to experiment.  Only if I'm bored, though.

I don't really see the point.  I think it would look very weird to have the side marker well below the line of the taillights.  But like you said everybody is different.  So if that's what you want then go for it.  But you might want to photoshop what it will look like before you permanently cut up your molding.  The whole, measure twice cut once thing.

HAVI - As far as impala lights, don't pay 150 for them.  You can probably find them on ebay for around 50.

Your right i am going to photo shop it first before cutting it up
I might end up putting it up higher though even with the lights. and yes your right it is 6 by 1.2 inch
Still thinking bout the front head lights though, just to be differant
want to mount fog lights into the front bumper some how but i think it means cutting some out of what is behind the bumper, still looking at it for now

1 1/2 inches or 1.5 not 1.2 if infact you mean one and one half an inch.

I think that would look really cool. Not sure about the placement but it would look good.

LED's rock!

On question though, what is the coldest it gets were your at? LCD's don't like the cold!
