Engine harness woes..

I've been wondering if the '87 5.0 engine harness an be used in an '88 car if i swap the '87 dash wiring in as well?

I can't find an '88 engine harness around here at all, and I'm just about ready to get this thing going, or try like hell to, one.

I know there's probably a couple other things I need to worry about too, but I was curious if this would be a viable alternative...

It would be easier to cut and splice the needed wires instead of the dash swap.

Hmmm, wonder if I can just re-pin the wires into the '87 connectors on the dash end of the wiring, and use the '87 engine harness?

Also, how would this affect the headlight and alternator wiring, if at all?
Save cutting and splicing, or pulling the dash...and if i remember, that car had the full digi-cluster anyway.
Also had the TC-style door panels and seats, but the rest of the interior was standard/base.
