lowering spring alternative

For those of you interested in lowering the front of your cat/bird cheaply and don't wanna sacrifice ride quality by cutting a coil, or simply don't want to spend so much on new springs, I have news.  Over the past year and a half, I have become an avid Jeeper, and on one of the forums I'm part of, some people have become aware that using fox cat/bird V8 coils gives a Cherokee/Comanche between 2"-5" of lift depending on what motor is in it.  Because the spring rates are so close ride quality is not spared, so for those wanting to lower their car, just go to your local junkyard/pull-a-part yard and look for Jeep Cherokee's between '84-'96 and any year Jeep Comanche with either a 4 cyl. or a V6 in it (2wd or 4wd depends on how low you want to go) and grab the springs.  Keep in mind that 4wd springs are about 1" taller than 2wd.  Hope this helps someone, as this is quite possibly one of my last posts on here, although I still check and see what's new every day.

That would seem like a good idea.... one question is....... is the 4cyl/v6 restriction just to the comanchee or does it apply to both comanche and cherokee

It applies to both the comanche and the cherokee, as from the B-pillar forward they are the same vehicle.  I mentioned '84-'96 cherokee because before '84 and after '96 the body styling was different.  The comanche was only made from '86-'92, so any year comanche would work.  I also mention ONLY the 4 cyl and the V6 because they are the lighter motors, the 4.0L I6 is about 60 lbs. heavier, so the springs are a little bit stiffer.  I just thought someone here might like to know this info as from what I've been reading here and know from experience, finding a jeep in a yard is a lot easier than finding a bird or cat.  Hope this answers your question.
