Pogs Reply #6 – November 16, 2006, 09:40:38 AM I think the object was that each person laid their pogs down face-up and then the other person would thrown the slammer down amidst all the other person's face-up pogs. Those pogs that flipped over were the ones that they got to keep. Quote Selected
Pogs Reply #7 – November 16, 2006, 10:30:36 AM Ah yes, the year was 1994. I was a young lad of only 7 years, but I distinctly remember that fad. I was in the 2nd grade when it happened, and seemingly overnight everyone on the ol' playground had those things. I quickly realized in order to fit in with the crowd, I needed some of these colored milk-caps, so I promptly begged my parents to take me to the local 99Cent Store to get some of these magical rounds. To my suprise, the store had them, and tubes as well. The next day at school I was in. Playing with the cool crowd, throwing my shiny brass saw-blade looking slammer to the ground, desperatly hoping to steal some of the other poor fools bounty. Although admittedly, I usually played for fun, and not for keeps.Looking back at this time now brings back fond memories of my child hood. Yes, Pogs were 1994's version of Magic Cards. Oh what a time to be alive. Quote Selected
Pogs Reply #8 – November 16, 2006, 10:36:22 AM -uhhhhh. whats a pog???? no really i dont know. dont remember ever hearing of it. i grew up in the 80's by the way.....i turned 20 in the summer of '84 and that day went by the local ford dealer(starting to close down about this time) and picked up one of those sets of '84 SVO posters that had a timeline of stangs on it and one of the little booklets on the SVO that went with it, and one of those little pamplets on the '85 30th Annv. Tbird they came out with. they were starting to throw things away like that so i'd go by once or twice a week on the way to work(at the piggly wiggly!) to see what i could find.... Quote Selected

Pogs Reply #10 – November 16, 2006, 11:17:10 AM hahah I remember pogs.. they appeared back when I was a fresh immigrant.. jsut learning the language and the way of life over here. I had figured out the surefire method of slammin' down the slammer on the pogs so it would guarantee to flip over.. needless to say.. i won every time.. clered kids out of hteir pogs they complained to techers and prinls that the immigrant was hussling them.. and then one day.. someone stole my entire pog collection at school.. so I complained to the prinl and she diecided she had enough.. and banned them in my school. yep. i was solely responsible for banning pogs at my elementary school. Pogs Reply #11 – November 16, 2006, 05:48:46 PM The puppiesanese think Americans are stupid and will buy anything. Pogs (and Pokemon, and Yu-Gi-Oh) are proof that they're right. (cue old man voice) Back in my day we played with toys, not cardboard discs with pictures of toys on 'em. Transformers 4 ever!!!!!!!111eleven! More than meets the eye, bitches! Quote Selected

At least they're toys, though, instead of pictures of toys... Quote Selected
