make sure you clean the wheels very well with sandpaper, any dirt, or imperfections will stick out once you paint them. Its worth it to spend time and clean them up.

I welcomed the dark side and currently am driving a 2000 Dodge Durango SLT plus, with a 5.9, Code named project "Night Runner"
Shes black on black, fully loaded, with headers, 180 tstat, e fan, straight exhaust into a cherry bomb vortex ler, full tune up, ported intake and T/B, MSD coil, and round aircleaner.
Mods to come: Fully rebuilt and heavily modded 46RE, and a richmond rachet locker.

Well, me and Brian hit a road block today. The dizzy I had in the car was " wrong" we think. Just wasn't nearly the same as what was in it. Compaired to the TFI dizzy, the duraspark shaft that goes into the motor was short. Also alot of rotitbuttstuff spin in the shaft, almost 45*. We think this could be a few of the causes of why the car will not run right. That, a dead ass battery, or the wiring is still a bit off. Tomorow, I'll wire the duraspark from scratch, hopefuly have another dizzy for the car thats right, and have it running again. Another wated day to parts not working....

i got the cash and told the guy i wanted the pipe, and now i just need top wait for him to tell me how to send the money

that shouldnt effect the car from running right. it may not give enough engagement to the oil pump shaft, but the gears seem to be in the same place for the cam. i have never heard of shafts being different lengths on a 302.

was the TFI dizzy factory on your car or the durapark? also, maybe you should find a used MSD 6A/L, and shiznitcan that duraspark module.

The TFI was factory, sorta. If ya read back a bit, there was whole thing on how I had a different TFI dizzy, but yeah. And the gear is about 1/4 off. There is ( on teh duraspark cam) a place about 1/16" on teh gears that isn't even thouching the cam it feels like. All is clean to the line, then dirty like it's not touching. And thats our best guess. Unless someone else has an idea

where did the TFI distributor come from? that gear looks worn out compared to the other one. notice how much sharper the teeth are? another thing... you need a distributor with an iron gear, NOT a steel. most TFI distributors have a steel gear for use with a roller cam. you will ruin the cam or gear mix matching parts.

sorry, if it was already discussed, but im not going back over 38 pages of "what do you guys think?" :D

Mikey.  Did you mention/remember that there is PLAY in the distributor shaft between the gear and where the rotor attaches at the top?  And no, it's not a worn rotor.

32V, the TFI distributor(s) came from CFI, non-roller cars, so the gears are correct for his non-roller block/cam.

So we have untill about 4:00 to figure this out or it goes back in and we guess away. A freind might have another duraspark dist. from a 302 so we'll try that too. Just not sure why there is such a difference in legnth and like Brian said, play in the shaft. Would this cause some of the problems listed?

Got ALOT of the engine re-wires correctly. Wires were made to the correct legnth insted of just hard wired, put in connectors, got a coil bracket installed, the over flow tank in, in-line fuel filter in, and cleaned her up a bit. Now waiting on the dizzys to get here so I can rock those out

Just got back from dinner with Brian. Got his control arms for his car from Summit, and ALOT of idea of what I need to do. Tomorow I *should * have another duraspark dizzy and hepefuly a tuned carb ready for me. Then on we go. On a side not, Brian sat on my car the other day and noticed that my front suspention is ALOT stiffer then his. Night a day difference. It's rock solid, but the rear is soft. What gives. The front control arms, sway bar, ans sway bar endlinks look newer, but the springs look older. But still have black paint on them. Still NO ONE has any clue of the difference on the shaft legnth on the distributers? I mean we're talking like a 1/2" on the oil pump shaft part of it. No idea's what so ever?

ive got a lot of reading to do,,, looks like you have your very one web site inside a web sit,,lol

I'm pretty sure i know what you are talking about,, i had to convert my duraspark to a tfi dizzy and had to be careful.  I brought my duraspark dizzy to the boneyard and found a couple wierd lenghts.  i just wrote them off as no sale. Now to catch up on your issue.
