Ignition on - underhood wire.

Which underhood wire is live when the ignition is set to "run"? Need to get this electric fan installed one of these days.

oh, and what about the a/c wire? The ones going to the compressor are switched on and off as needed so thats not the right ones.

Which one, green/yellow or red/green? It doesn't seem to matter but I doubt there'd be two similar wires on the same plug.

What about the a/c? I know it isn't necessary, but it'd make it blow cooler having the fan run full all the time.

What does your elec. fan wiring schematic look like right now?
Is it just temperature sensitive...or does it also come on when the A/C is on?

dccontrol...both if wired up that way.

Ah, just wire it up the positive clutch coil wire.

Now, for DCControl specific advice.

If you don't have the underdive pulley jumper set, the fan goes to 50% power when the A/C input (blue wire) gets 12V. If you want 100% power, but don't want the fan running 10% all the time due to the underdrive jumper selection, run a wire from the A/C to pin 14. Make sure this wire has a diode in it. Now you have maximum efficiency. [insert evil engineer laugh]

Yes.

If you want the fan to run 100% of the time A/C is selected, you can tap it at the cycling switch. I chose to run it from the clutch wire b/c running the fan when the clutch isn't engaged (aka the cycling switch has opened) isn't going to cool any better. Plus, it wastes power.

The A/C duty cycle while driving down the interstate for my car is <30%.

My fan wire pigtail is weird, two black wires and one light blue. Any idea which is which? Wiring it up blue pos, black neg gives nothing. Black pow, blue neg blows a 30A fuse. Black pos, black neg turns the fan on. I know wire color can vary so can anyone tell me which contacts on the fan do what?

My fan (MN12) didn't come with a pigtail.

My memory is fuzzy here, but...

The fan plug has a + on one side and a - on the other. Wire up the + to positive, and the other side to negative. Don't use the middle pr0ng.

If you look and can't figure it out (due to my poor explanation), I'll take a picture to make it clearer.
