302 swap questions

i guess first question is, are there any adaptor that allow the efi-style throttle linkage to work with a carb, or am I gonna need to retro-fit a throttle cable from and older Fox?

Secondly, what size carb would be a good starting point for a 5.0SO with  E7's, stock Stang headers and aluminum 4bbl intake?
And last, would it be alright to use a fuel pressure regulator to drop the pressure down, or should i drop the tank and get a new sump and sender?
FWIW, i'm eventually going to use an efi 5.8
which brings me to:

I know I was originally going to go with a 5.8, but that engine will need a complete rebuild, whereas the 5.0 bottom end is all good.
I figure to swap on the E7 heads, stang headers, and depending on the cam specs of the monster I have, maybe use it, but the box says only for mass-air 5.0ho/5.8 engines, and the lift is quite high, IIRC around .480...so i'm betting it won't work with flattop pistons..
Anyway, I'm gonna run this setup for the winter/spring, and in the meantime, try to put some money into the 351w.

I suspect you're going to have to find a earlier type linkage, possibly the CFI setup would work with a carb...

As for the carb just remember this, the HI-PO 271hp 289s used a 470cfm carb. So anything above 600 is just overkill and will probably cause low speed bog/stumble especially in cold weather...

The FP decision is yours, but I've always thought it may be possible to connect the supply line directly to the return with a  "T", then use a regulator to get the 7lb or so the carb would need... This would eleminate the need to find a earlier type tank/pickup and a mechanical pump on the engine would be unnecessary...

that's exactly what I'm going to do when I get the clevo in the car... use the stock pump with a line that T's off to the carb with a regulator and the other side goes to the return line.

Get on E-Bay and find a carb throttle cable for an '84/'85 Stang. They're probably pretty cheap.
