1988 t bird 5.0 aod

Well I just change the TPS sensor today the sensor "thats on the throttle body" cause the car was stalling. The brand of it was kEM. My question is there is a whole in the middle of the sensor and does it need to be covered? cause it came like that and the car drives fine with out it covered. I ask this cause my old one was covered.

Do i need to cover it? If so with what??

Huh? Hole in the middle?

Did you adjust the TPS voltage after you installed the new one?

The TPS on the 83 has a hole in its center for one of those goofy stupid idle things...

Go to the Tech Articles section on NATO and read for yourself. THe procedure is outlined for a 2.3T, but it's all the same. It's also been discussed here several times too.

so the information about what it says to do and how to set the rpm should be the same???

The older sensors for CFI cars had the horizontal throttle shaft going right through the middle; I wouldn't be surprised if the newer versions just glued a plastic cap over the (now vertical) hole to keep dust and other out.

Just my :2c: but get a Ford TPS. When I put the HO upper and TB on mine 2 years ago I bought a new GP Sorenson TPS from Advance Auto. My car was running kinda funky so I checked the TPS and sure enough it had a flat spot. So I put the 19 year old TPS on from my stock TB and low and behold after adjusting it the car ran 1,000 times better.
