Good paint colors/choices?

Ok, my future Cougar is in the avatar, and according to available color codes, it looks to be a medium scarlet color. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a similar paint color that is a wee-bit darker? Almost like a burgundy/maroon....

Anyone have a suggestion or pic? :pics-stfu: :dunce:

i dont know of any factory red color darker than that off hand, but... if you go to a automotive paint place, or something that also deals with automotive paint, they usualy have color charts from dupont, or house of color ect with the different factory color swatches and codes you can thumb through.

hear is a link to something similar, only for '69.

I suggest this 2005 Cadillac color.

I don't have the code, but it comes with a lot of pearl and fine metallic.  Very sharp color.  Find one and get the color code off the door tag.  It's easy to paint too since it's just an OEM two-stage... and repairs are not a problem.

i love the red my car is. ive always loved this color but since ive owned it i noticed when the sun isnt shining it looks more maroon than id realy care for. if you go look at some paint chips at any body shop you might be supprised at just how many different reds their are let alone colors. it makes it herd to choose sometimes. because of the issue im having with my red i may have it painted that burnt orange you see on the dodge daytona trucks and cars alot these days.

The maroon of my 84 Cougar is the Stock "tint", but with metal flake added into it, drastically changed the look of the car, and 2 years ago I had the drivers side fender replaced when I got backed into, you can see the difference between the repaint and 15 year old paint. The repaint is a darker color(most likely because of lack of exposure to sunlight), but the clear coat drastically makes it seem darker. I love it, I cant wait to paint my TC hood to see if I get the same results.

If you want that Cadillac Paint Code I can get it. I work in the Body Shop of the local Chevy Dealer.
