Are these factory? October 10, 2006, 10:46:58 PM Ok, I think this is susposed to be a luggage rack on my car. Is this factory? Because if it is it looks to be a piss poor job of someone fixing it. Looks like 2 side tape and a few screws? Should I leave it on or rip that shiznit off? Quote Selected
Are these factory? Reply #1 – October 10, 2006, 10:55:38 PM Rip The shiznit Off:sawzall:IMO it would look better without it. Quote Selected
Are these factory? Reply #2 – October 10, 2006, 11:04:57 PM I had that feeling too but if it's some option that will add value to the Fila then I might. Quote Selected
Are these factory? Reply #3 – October 10, 2006, 11:08:49 PM i'd get a new deck lid. if you rip it off, you'll have to strip off the tape, and fill the holes in the deck lid so it dosnt leak, or put the screws back into the hole untill you can weld them up and fix it. tho for the ammount of work, it may be easier to just replace it. i personaly hate them, and would never pile junk on my deck lid and drive around. Are these factory? Reply #4 – October 10, 2006, 11:12:53 PM I need a new decklid anyways as this one is starting to rust. But is this a factory option or some retarted mans dream of something that looks good Quote Selected
Are these factory? Reply #5 – October 10, 2006, 11:16:34 PM as far as i know, this should be a dealership install. but if you replace the deck lid, you can always keep it ,if it's of any value with the car. Quote Selected
Are these factory? Reply #6 – October 10, 2006, 11:24:34 PM That is so simple, It just might work. Untill I have the time/money what should I do though? Just say the hell with it and rip it off or leave it on? Quote Selected
Are these factory? Reply #7 – October 10, 2006, 11:34:11 PM I vote to find another deck lid and keep that one aside. Quote Selected
Are these factory? Reply #8 – October 11, 2006, 12:36:53 AM thats probably factory, yeah listen to Nate, put a different lid on and keep the lid somwhere. I threw out my old matching floor mats..stained bad but i think it might of been more money o well. Quote Selected
Are these factory? Reply #9 – October 11, 2006, 02:23:26 AM Till you find a new one I say leave it alone, just a waste of time on something you'll be replacing anyway, spraypaint it white if it makes you feel better. Quote Selected
Are these factory? Reply #11 – October 11, 2006, 09:53:06 AM I'd say they're not factory simply because they don't follow the lines of the trunk. If they were factory they'd be made for that trunk lid, and therefore they'd be sized for it - longer at the outer edges and getting narrower toward the center. If you look at the two innermost ones they look like they just barely fit on the trunklid at all.I vote new trunklid, and truthfully I wouldn't even bother hanging onto the old one if it's rusted out... Is this factory? There was no luggage rack option on the '83-'88 Thunderbirds. There were many installed by dealers as an aftermarket accessory but they were not a factory installed item.Brent Quote Selected
Are these factory? Reply #13 – October 11, 2006, 10:18:04 AM Brent is right. To add to that...all luggage racks, front license plate holders, full mock tops, and striping packages (Blue Max/Special Edition, etc.) were dealer add-ons or added at a specialty shop for the dealer. Quote Selected
Are these factory? Reply #14 – October 11, 2006, 11:33:11 AM So just rip the ugly ass thing off and replace the trunk lid later? Quote Selected
