Can anyone recommend taller than OEM aftermarket or Ford Racing valve covers that fit under the HO upper EFI intake and throttlebody cable assembly. I need something that will fit over my Comp Cams 1.7 roller rockers with adjustable pushrod setting screw/nut. I've attempted to grind off inside a spare set of HO covers I've got, but end up grinding off too much material for good clearance.

The Trick Flow cover I used are designed to work with the Trick Flow 1.7 ratio stud mount rockers. They are a VERY tight fit under the throttle body linkage on the passenger side.

Thanks for the reply Paul. Do you have any pictures? I'd like to see how close is "very tight fit". On a related topic, How thick of a plenum spacer can the stock upper intake bolts handle? Are longer replacement bolts required and available? This is kind of plan B if I have to use too tall aftermakets.

Trick Flow makes a 3/8" spacer kit with bolts for $45 that should work. I used it when I put taller valve covers on my Tbird.

You could re-drill the two bolt holes on the throttle body linkage bracket and raise it up a little bit to get more clearance

The pic is intended to show the location of the SPOUT connector, but I believe you can get the basic idea of how much clearance is underneath the TB linkage.

Absolutely correct...I think most people end up doing this, as it's pretty much unavoidable. Also, you can buy longer upper-to-lower intake bolts at Lowe's. That's what I've got on the convertible now, with a 1" spacer. They're not that expensive either.

How did you gring off too much material? Did you go through the VC and have a hole? If you did no big deal just get some jb weld or something patch the hole, let it dry, sand, and paint it and it will be good as new. I got crazy with the grinder when I did mine and that what I had to do. I grinded the two end posts and the one in the middle and the 1.6 ford motorsport rr fit fine..

How much would you sell the Ho covers for , with the hole in top. I have a alumn. welder...

Prob'ly the easier way to go is to get the head covers that fit and get the 1" upper intake spacer from Ford Racing.

I saw at a local show n' shine where a couple of Mustangs had the throttle cable bracket redrilled/slotted to raise it as suggested above. One guy recommended the Ford Motorsport EFI valve covers. I've since lucked out and got another set of HO covers at the Pick n' Pull that I can attempt to modify. I plan on using the cover with a hole as a mule for other ideas to test proper fit before digging away at my latest set. These Comp Cam 1.7 adjustable roller rockers may simply be too tall for the HO covers at the push rod adjust lock down nut. So some options I'm looking at are using extra thick/double VC gaskets along with a little less grinding, or go with taller covers and make 'em fit under the intake whether by raising the bracket or whole upper. No rush as cruise season is coming to an end. Thanks for all the help. I still appreciate any other ideas that you may come up with! By the way, has anyone used 1.7 ratio rockers with E6 heads and flat top pistons? I'm assuming I wont get valve-piston interference.
