Rolled the 87 out... September 11, 2006, 09:54:01 PM To take some tranny/H-pipe pics for another thread. It was the first time I had the cover off of it in a couple months so I thought I'd snap a few new pics. The reason it sits so high in the front is because the top half of the engine has been removed. I need to find some E7's because my kids aren't getting my aluminum heads to drive around in high school! I kinda hope the car doesn't get totalled before I get it back, heheh... Quote Selected

Rolled the 87 out... Reply #5 – September 11, 2006, 10:15:43 PM Thanks, I try and take care of both cars. But I'm definitely dumping all my resources into the 86. One more year and my daughter will start driving the 87 but no one but me will ever drive the 86... at least not without me in it with them. Quote Selected

Rolled the 87 out... Reply #7 – September 11, 2006, 10:47:49 PM Magnaflow lers and 2 1/4" custom bent pipe. The tips are a little bigger than I wanted, I only wanted 2 1/2" but they had some 3" tips they were trying to get rid of and he gave me a good price (on the tips). I got raped on the rest of it.As far as the tips go, I told them to call me and wait for me to come to the shop before they welded them on. I didn't want them sticking out past the bumper, I wanted them lined up with the edge so I figured I better be the one to hold them in place if I wanted them to terminate in the right spot. I think it came out well and they did a great job. I just think I spent about $200 too much for not having mandrel bent 2 1/2" pipe. Quote Selected
Rolled the 87 out... Reply #8 – September 11, 2006, 11:14:53 PM I have a similar exhaust and your car looks like mine. 2 ¼ around the axle and 3” tail tips and I fell the same there a little much. Quote Selected
Rolled the 87 out... Reply #9 – September 11, 2006, 11:59:23 PM I love that exhaust, and I love your 86, I stared at it forever when he mentioned selling it. That hood...is perfect, and the whole car, wow. Quote Selected
Rolled the 87 out... Reply #10 – September 12, 2006, 12:40:26 AM Yeah, I felt like I won the lotto when the wife said I could go for it and buy Johns 86. Funny thing is I used to prefer the 87/88 birds over the 83-86's but now when I look at them side by side I can see the 87 is bigger than the 86. The body differences are subtle but completely different. I think the 4 eye'd cats and birds definitely look 'meaner' in front. I also like the 86's quarter window and C pillar design better. The 87 looks like it was changed in that area to allow for more rear seat room... which it definitely has. The 87 also has a noticably bigger trunk. It doean't mean I like the 87/88's any less, I just like the 83-86's more!Plus the headlights don't go yellow! Quote Selected
