83 to 85 door swap!! September 06, 2006, 10:41:00 AM Holy man!! Wanna do a door exchange to my 83 t-bird to 85 doors. I'm looking at all the wiring and man it looks hard to change over, any body done this type of change. that would give me opinion and help with this wiring change over. 83 to 85 door swap!! Reply #1 – September 06, 2006, 11:36:29 AM Umm....are you just swapping the doors, or are you swapping door panels too? If you are just swapping the doors, then just unplug everything and pull the wiring out of the door and then pull the old wiring into the new door.If you're swapping panels too...really there isn't much to change either...... Reply #5 – September 11, 2006, 11:33:15 AM The wiring for the windows and locks runs under the seats, so yes, you'll need to pull the seats.I just pulled all the power lock and power seat wiring out of my 83. I'd say if you can, pull both cars apart so you can easliy compare and contrast and swap what you need. There will probably be some small differences between the two years, but nothing major I don't think. Quote Selected
