Power windows question

This whole thing started when we first bought my Tbird and drove it home. My uncle went to put down his window (passenger side) and one end of the window plummeted, so him and my dad had to push it back up into place. Not long after, they fixed and reglued the plastic U shaped piece with the glass. Now, 2 years later, the same window has done the exact same thing. Is there a really good fix for Ford's poor design here?

What I ended up doing is getting a drill and drilling through the plastic and window, then sticking jb weld through it. Seems to work okay.

How did you manage drill through tempered glass? A normal drill bit would shatter the window on contact. About the only way I can think of to drill through window glass would be to "wear" through it with an abrasive, and even then shattering it with the vibration would be a real danger.

Kingcars: It is a common problem with these cars. A good quality silicone seems to be a good adhesive, but preparation is the most important thing...

What do you mean by preparation? What sort of steps should be taken to prepare it?

Clean it up really good with something like alcohol (not whiskey, lol)
Mine did this once too, I tried silicon, superglue in copious quantities, and even jb weld, none of that worked, finally said piss on it, took the whole deal out of my parts '88 'Bird, put it in...
What was the cause of my problem though, the window track/channel in the front of the door was twisted/smashed shut, and when I'd put the "winder" down, it'd want to pull out of the clip. Bad thing is, it's doing it again, but the doors are junk anyways, good thing the TC has rather clean doors :D

Well I didnt drill through the window myself,.... My dad actually did it, and that is what he said that he did. I will have to ask him about that.

Take a little sand paper and rough up the window under the clips. I did this then JBwelded it. Been holding for about a year now.
