It's coming...

...Actually, it's already here. Sort of. For the past really long time I've been working on wiring diagrams for 83-88 T-birds and Cougars. This project has been ages in progress, and had even suffered a major setback awhile ago when my hard drive died and I lost several hundred hours' worth of work. recently I've started workking a bit harder at it, and have got quite a few up and running on my website. I was gonna wait until all were finished before posting any of 'em, but decided that since I don't know how long it'll take me I should probably post 'em as they get finished. And now, for your viewing pleasure, and for your troubleshooting help, I present:

Sam's Fox Thundercats 83-88 T-Bird/Cougar wiring diagrams

Some are in color, some are black and white. Some are complete sections of the car (and somewhat complicated because of this), and some are individual systems. There's no substitute for having an EVTM specific to your car, but this should help some people out. I'll try to eventually get all of the diagrams done, but for now, if you have any requests post 'em here and I'll try to do those ones first (keeping in mind that individual systems, such as headlights, are not always available so I may have to provide a complete section diagram, such as underhood, instead).

now that is interesting,, i was thumbing through your diagrams and found something unfamiliar with the 3.8/5.0 harness setup with reguard to the y/w wire and the first fuseable link.

on my 3.8, the y/w wire ties in at the first fuseable link once only, not twice like the 5.0,, and,,,, the first fuseable link is a 14ga green which differs from the 5.0 which is 16awg black.
page 22 and 23 of the 1987 EVTM.

Are you aware of any reasons for this minor wiring difference?

no words can thank you enough. Lots of hard work on your part is evident and everyone here will enjoy it for sure.

I'm looking at my '87 EVTM right now and I see what you mean - the yellow/white wire comes from the A terminal and appears to go to the fusible link on the 3.8 diagram. I think, however, that there is an error in the EVTM. If you look at that yel/wht wire it "magically" turns into a BLK/ORG wire with no splices shown and the circuit number even changes (from 36 for yel/wht to 38 for blk/org). The 5.0 diagram shows a splice here (splice 493), so one of the two diagrams must be wrong, and I'm betting it's the 3.8 one.

Now in the '88 EVTM (I have that here also) the 3.8 and 5.0 diagrams are identical to each other except that the yellow/white wire has a black 16g fusible link while the 3.8 has a green 14g one. Neither engine shows a splice into circuit 38 - instead, the yellow/white wires have their own fusible link, while the black/orange wire (circuit 38, the alternator output circuit) has its own (14g green on both engines).

All of these differences, however, are very minimal. Electrically and functionally they are pretty much identical. The differences in fusible link gauge is probably nothing more than the line that produced the V6 harness having a roll of 14g green handy while the line that produced the V8 had a roll of 16g Black.

'tis too cold out to go and see what's actually under my hood...

Cool! Diagrams for Canadian models.  My software does not have those.

Sweet!  Thanks for all your hard work Carm.  Your diagrams helped me out a lot when I wired up my aftermarket 4-channel amp using all of the factory wiring.
