3G into 86 Turbo Coupe July 06, 2007, 07:43:23 PM Ok, I searched, but didn't find anything. Has anyone done this swap? It's the same as and 83-86 Thunderbird/79-86 Mustang Alt. swap. Quote Selected

3G into 86 Turbo Coupe Reply #3 – July 07, 2007, 12:06:43 AM Mine is an 84 but I did the 3G swap. Very easy. In the early models with the V belt setup I didn't have to do any grinding. Also the wiring was very easy. I just got me some 4ga wire and a fuse. Then I bought the D shaped plug at the parts store. Use the white wire to the small single terminal on the case next to the D shaped plug. Then match the other 2 small wires to the wires on the car that have the same letter on the external regulator. Then all that is left is to run the big power wire over to the starter relay. Make sure you have a fuse in the big power wire. This sounds a lot harder than it is. Once I had it done I kicked myself for not doing it earlier. Quote Selected

3G into 86 Turbo Coupe Reply #5 – July 08, 2007, 11:31:42 PM I have a 130A in my '83 and I installed a 90A in the '80. It's shockingly simple on the early cars. Once you remove the old regulator, you just have to splice the one wire (orange/green) and the rest are part of the 3G harness.Did you have any specific questions? Quote Selected
