Quit fishing for ideas and actually try some of his advice, chuck knows his stuff.

Also check your fuel pressure.

Plug wires and plugs are were I would start.Use only factory style plugs,turbo's dont like platinum plugs. I had a problem with my car cutting out when it got warm,I was told tfi,map,ect but no fix. The only thing that fixed it was a simple plugs,wires. Did I say "plugs n wires."

Chuck is right - you need to have the wastegate hooked up. You'll blow something up, otherwise.
When I first got my '86, it would start choking and shaking under WOT past 3k RPM, just as yours does. I did a full tune-up with Motorcraft parts and it changed everything. The car ran MUCH better after the tune-up.

Are you hearing a whooshing sound WHILE it's building boost, i.e. when it gets near 10 psi? Could be that boost is blowing out around one of your couplers, but it's not enough to actually blow the coupler off. I've had that happen a few times when I didn't tighten the clamps enough, it'd start to leak around the coupler once I got up near 10 psi or so.

Chuck was right. the intake hose was sucking shut. the last thing i checked:bowdown:

The stock hoses have a wire in them to keep from collapsing.

What did you do to rectify it?

mine didnt have a wire in it?!?!?! oh well it gots one now:punchballs:
