H.O. or maybe turbo?

Im just beginning to learn how internal engine components work.
I have an 84 T-Bird Elan 5.0 and was wondering how to go about making it a 5.0 H.O.
I was also wondering about maybe turbocharging but I dont know if thats possible with a CFI Engine.
Maybe someone could help with that info?

With the stock air & fuel delivery of CFI, no a turbo won't work well, if at all.  Change to SEFI or a Carb and maybe it will.

If you'd like more info on an H.O. conversion, see coolcats.net, here.  Though, that refers to doing said conversion on a SEFI engine, not CFI like yours (and mine).  The other, some say simpler route, is to convert to a carburetor.  There's certainly less wires involved, but you give up some driveability factors as well as some miles per gallon.  Info regarding the carburetor change-up is here. In that instance TBI = CFI.  I'm thinking of doing the latter of the two.  I'm actually pretty committed to it now that I have everything I need except a fuel pump/regulator, and an intake.

If you switch let me know, I'm looking for CFI parts. Cash in hand

Why are you so desperate for CFI parts if you're trying to upgrade to H.O. specs?

I swapped in a 5.0 HO into my 85 bird (same cfi setup as yours).  That is prob. your best bet to get to a 5.0 HO.  I also conveted it to a 5 speed at the same time.  I often wonder how I drove without it all that time.  And it's ony about 220 HP, but that's leaps and bounds above the 150 HP stock engine.  It's a great starting point for building a more powerful car.  The cool thing is that since I converted to a EFI fuel system the gas mileage is about the same, given you don't continuously drive with a lead foot.  Jason.

CIF is already there, It's avlable and I'm very short on cash. If it runs then I'll go HO but it's down the road.
