Accident Reply #15 – January 08, 2012, 09:09:33 PM Honestly, even if you did yave her plate, it would be your word against hers, making it morre possible to get a ticket. Call into the police station and talk to them. Be honest and don't lie. Go from there. They can only recommen you call your insurance company, and if your in a no fault state, I don't think even your company can really go after you.But I would still get a record of it saying she hit you and ran off. She still knows where you live, and you don't know where she does. Woth how sue happy people are, I would at least want a record supporting whatever you decided on. Quote Selected
Accident Reply #16 – January 08, 2012, 09:28:30 PM OK I have made a call to the police. I explained what happened, but they seamed very un-intrested. They said they would keep an eye out for the car in case something else arises such as the car being stolen. I did have a witness. I don't know if he saw the accident, but he saw the aftermath. Unfortunately he can not understand the words, because he only speaks Spanish, but he saw the actions. As for my insurance, I only have minimum requirements on the car. They will not be able to help in repair. I have decided to not post a pic, due to the fact that it is not much to see. I will polish out the scratches and repair the trim at a later date, if I can. I did find a dent where the trim is broken, however it is tiny and would not be visible if the trim was still in one piece. Quote Selected

She only knows the driveway I was pulling into. I live in a town 30 miles away. Another reason I called police is because the car did not match the driver. Car looked expensive. She did not! lol I don't think she wants anything to do with the law. Quote Selected

Accident Reply #19 – January 11, 2012, 11:33:36 AM I don't know what the exact law is in Texas, but if that had occurred in NY it would have been the following: Quote§ 600. Leaving scene of an incident without reporting. 1. Property damage. a. Any person operating a motor vehicle who, knowing or having cause to know that damage has been caused to the real property or to the personal property, not including animals, of another, due to an incident involving the motor vehicle operated by such person shall, before leaving the place where the damage occurred, stop, exhibit his or her license and insurance identification card for such vehicle, when such card is required pursuant to articles six and eight of this chapter, and give his or her name, residence, including street and number, insurance carrier and insurance identification information including but not limited to the number and effective dates of said individual's insurance policy, and license number to the party sustaining the damage, or in case the person sustaining the damage is not present at the place where the damage occurred then he or she shall report the same as soon as physically able to the nearest police station, or judicial officer.QuoteHave any friends/relatives/etc that are LEO's? There's always a way to find out who people are... Just file a police report and have the respective law agency handle it accordingly. Quote Selected
