well my dads 4.6 f150 lost a head gasket so that has been comsuming most of my time.  we are almost done, hope to fire it up tommarow.  i have sanded down some of the bay in my car and should be able to start painting it soon.  i think im just going to use rattle can gloss black paint from an auto parts store.  any suggestions?

High temperature paint isn't needed in the engine compartment. If you are using spray-bombs, just use a good quality product. If you are using automotive enamel or urethane, you will have no problems at all. In fact, I frequently paint engines with regular urethane with no problems due to heat.
