Stimulus this, stimulus that

First off, no, this is not a political thread. It has nothing to do with the fiscal policies of any current or past government, so let's not go there.

What this is, is a rant against douche-bag businesses that are attempting to capitalize on the current economic situation. I'm not talking about sleazy mortgage brokers, collection agencies, etc, either - I'm talking about retail.

Lately it seems that every other commercial has the word "stimulus" in it. Everything from pizza places to car dealerships are all offering "stimulus deals". Even large, multinational chains (Subway, for example). I think even some TV networks are advertising their shows as a sort of stimulus. It's like they're all trying to convince us that they are part of the solution, using shady advertising to subtly try to connect themselves with the efforts of world governments trying to put the brakes on the recession.

I, for one, will be glad when that buzzword is relegated to history (although I have every faith that retailers can come up with something equally annoying to replace it). I'm also making it a point to try not to patronize businesses that use the word "stimulus" in their advertisp00gets. I feel that if I buy from them now it's almost like rewarding them for jumping on the bandwagon...

Good luck. I have noticed that too. Not so much the word stimulus but trying to seem like the part of the solution

Over-used words I am sick of: Stimulus, Maverick, bling bling, green

Maybe I'm a bit bitter here but I hate any reference to Austin Powers but maybe its because he ruined a good last name.......
