magnum 500 wheels Reply #20 – March 05, 2009, 08:09:45 AM Quote from: ZondaC12;258836I'd also LOVE to see some old rallye wheels on one of these. Maybe I'll 'chop it this weekend if I feel like it LOL. I did this awhile back with pictures of a friends car that was at JUST the right angle so the wheels looked right. Shocking how well they fit. The second I did I went "thats IT I MUST have slots" hahahaI know exactly what a Cougar looks like with slots, because I had one :D My dearly departed 88 Cougar had 15X7 rear and 15X5.5 front slots on it. I could not find any that fit the 4X108 bolt pattern, so I had a machine shop drill new holes in a 4X114.3 bolt pattern set I found at a junk yard (I believe they came off a Datsun 260Z). The machine shop also made hubcentric rings for me so they'd fit properly. The rims + machine work only cost me $180 total. I then did my Thunder Chicken Wheel Restoration on 'em (this was the first set I'd ever done it to), painted the centers black and left the lip natural machined aluminum. They were absolute hotness.I don't have any good pics - this was the days before everyone and his dog had a digital camera, and taking pictures actually required planning, commitment, and money, and you kept your pic whether it turned out well or not. Here's a pic of the Cat with the slots on it after the aforementioned restoration/refinishing of 'em:Then I wrecked 'em Quote Selected
magnum 500 wheels Reply #21 – March 05, 2009, 09:25:04 AM Yeah you've posted that whole bit before, glad ya did again. If I look closely at the front wheel I CAN make out a couple of the slots. That is pretty neat too not only slots but dark with a polished outer rim! Too bad about the wreck man thats a nice lookin cat there. :( I kinda feel like the slots I 'chopped on are a little bright :hick: My buddy polished his up, they used to have the dull satin finish they usually come with. So that's why they look like that just the pic I had to work with haha (kinda like you were saying :hick: ) But that looks awesome. Im a real sucker for black center + polished outer. My other friend's mint 89 beretta has GTZ wheels and he polished the outer lip and it just looks SICK. Quote Selected
