Does anyone else suffer from anxiety?

I have been dealing with this  for about 10 years now and it's ruining my life.  I am just looking for some different ways to try and rid myself of this curse.

I haven't the time nor space to tell you my doctor adventures.  I think they are half the problem actually.

What about a therapist? No joking implied. Could be something in your brain, a chemical imbalance, etc. There are a lot of different causes.

I see a therapist every week.  I know what you mean about the brain, that is how I feel.  It's like someone crossed a wire and I physically feel and think exactly the opposite of what I used to.  I used to be a strong-willed, confident person.  Now, I am turning into a hermit.

Well, seeing that in yourself is a good start in changing things. A change in daily routines and habits are a great start. Also, a healthy diet and exercise. Getting started is hard to do, but once you get going, it can make all the difference. Don't look past today. What is happening when you start to feel anxious or depressed? Do you have a wife, kids, pets? Do you work? What do you watch and listen to? Surround yourself with positive things as much as possible. If it's not good for you, step away from it. You only get one life to live and you need to make the most of it. As I said, change of habits and routines. Do you pretty much do the same things from day to day? Start a workout routine daily or every other day at least. Eat well and healthy. Diet can make a difference in the way you function. What makes you feel good? When are you the happiest? Be careful, though. many people who suffer from depression can find themselves doing harmful things that they think make them happy, when, in reality, they are trying to fill an empty place inside. Like buying things, eating, etc. Temporary fixes to make themselves happy, trying to fill a bottomless hole because they're missing something in their life. First, you gotta figure out what's missing, what's not in place. Don't over complicate things. One day at a time only. You can't change yesterday, it's gone. Tomorrow isn't here yet. Work on today. Focus on now. Make sure that when you go to bed, you can honestly tell yourself "I did the best I could today". You also have to remember, that on some days, we will fail. That's life. That's being human. No person is perfect. If you're moving forward, keep moving forward. If you stumble, then simply get up, and keep going.

My mother does. She's getting better, but for a while she was unable to drive or work at all. She was taking some medicine, I don't know how much it helped, but she's able to drive now if we're with her. The main thing for her was identifying what was causing the anxiety, and being able to talk about it.

I exercise, eat right, all the stuff I'm supposed to do and I still am having issues.  Today I had a huge panic attack, but I was able to talk myself down, up actually and use the negative for a positive.  Today was a good day.  I just hope this can continue.

Don't over-think everything and buttstuffyze everything.....keep it simple. I assume you're on meds of some kind?

Easiest way to get rid of it is with medication.  Theres a trial and error with the medication to find what works best for you.  My brother-in-law was in the Army and fought in Iraq for 18 months and came home with a bunch of problems from it.  He has PTSD.. meds did not work for him... on the meds he wouldn't sleep which made him worse.  They only wanted to give him more powerful meds which he didn't want.  Finally after 5 years he has it under control but still deals with it.  His remedy to relieve it has been excessive exercise.  He does jujitsu 2-3 hours a day, runs, weight lifting, and bike rides everywhere.  Also he eats right now, meditates, and keeps stress to a minimum.  Really if you read about this stuff, my brother has just let his OCD take over and that is whats driving his exercising obsession.. he knows this and is fine with it because he feels better than he did.

Good luck with it, you just need to find what works for "you".. keep at you'll get there :)

Yeah, I have been on several meds, but I like to keep it natural and the meds never really worked for me.  It's funny you mention OCD as I was told by my therapist that this is the reason for the anxiety.  He tells me I am trying to play God and control things that are out of my control.  I am just very passionate about things in my life and it's really hard to not give a  about things or let things slide.  I seriously thing it's my job, as I feel pretty good on the weekends.  I hate to leave in this economy though and the perks of the job make it great for working around my son's mother's schedule and day care.

I do at times.  Stage fright gets me pretty bad, and is why I never made an attempt at being a professional musician.  Lately, I've been looking at myself in the mirror and figuring it all out.  Almost walked off my job lately because of it.  Higher the stress (my job certainly can be), higher the anxiety.  It's not like I consciously look at leaving, but it overtakes me and it just comes out.  Weekends, I'm just fine and dandy, but by Monday afternoon, I'm right back at it.  It sux.  It's hard to put a finger on it, and to explain it all would take pages.  I hope the best for ya, and to get it under control.
