Speed Bumps! November 22, 2007, 03:41:14 PM We have great 'traffic calming devices' in the UK, including tarmac speed bumps, about 2 foot wide, 4 inches tall that run from one side of the road to another. They have large white triangles painted on them, so that you can slow down before you hit one.......Driving through town in the rain the other evening, didn't know there had been some new ones put in - because they had only been put in that day, the workman hadn't had chance to paint them..... I hit the first one at about 30 mph, couldn't slow down too much and slammed the front of the Astro into the road - imagine the fibreglass repair bill I am facing, as it's got one of those fancy body kits on it...... There's two reasons I'm so mad about this - firstly even though it's only an Astro and I'm not over keen on it, I still keep it nice and it was in pristine condition, and secondly I need every penny to get me that 3rd Cougar that I so desperately need! I'm relying on the sale of the van to pay off the money I am going to have to borrow when that perfect Cat comes up, so the repair has got to be done. Not going to moan forever though, on a positive note, joining this forum has made me remember what I am missing about not having a Cougar anymore, so I am so determined to find another. Even more determined not to have the next Cougar written off - third time lucky I hope!Happy Thanksgiving, have a great day.Niki :) Quote Selected

Speed Bumps! Reply #4 – November 23, 2007, 11:48:08 AM Sorry to hear about that Niki, dont much care for those bumps myself. I wrecked the front end of my old 85 5.0 Thunderbird that had a fibeglass body kit on it, the same way.Good luck on the Cat Search too :) Quote Selected
Speed Bumps! Reply #5 – November 24, 2007, 06:16:38 PM Sounds like no matter where you live in the world, there's someone trying to spoil your driving fun! We're also getting really big on speed cameras over here too - most triggered when you are only 1-2 mph over the speed limit, and all set to generate money from fines rather than make the roads safer!By the way, I don't always rant.......Niki Quote Selected
