AOD Shift points

I adjusted my TV cable the other day and last night I finally took it out for a little drive around town. I didnt go any faster than 30 MPH but i noticed that now it doesnt shift into second until about 22-24 MPH under light throttle(probably between 1/8th and 1/4 of the peddle travel). This is the first time i have ever adjusted the TV cable and i was wondering if that is normal or if i have the cable too tight. It shifts  firmly and doesnt slip so i am not worried too much about it and besides Im not planning on driving it much in the near future. Just trying to make sure i didnt mess it up.

Thanks,

Andrew

The tighter it is the higher your shift points will be even under light throttle.

Will it damage the trans though? From what I have learned in my classes when i got my associate degree in Automotive Technology I am thinking it wont hurt anything but we were mainly working on Chevy turbo 350s in school and i dont have much knowledge of Ford trannies. Thanks.

Should be just fine, only if you let the cable go down past the original setting could there be a problem but putting more pressure on it is just fine.

Too much pressure is better than not enough.  That being said, with shifting from 1st to secon at 22 you most likely wouldn't see OD until after 60.  Mine goes into 2nd at 18 and I see OD at 54.

Just to throw it out, what about those of us with the Tv rod? How much is there to getting that dialed in?

I went to the local Hi-Po spped shop yesterday, and he's going to build up a valve body for my AOD and he said it would make me wet my pants.I hope he's right.I'd wet my pants for some serious performance.he's a great guy. He's doing the whole job for $75.00.That's worth it.
