My biggest problem with my cougar is that the 3.8 Is just running too good to take it out. :-P. Thanks to ford they make good stuff! Also I would be more comfortable if I could have some one else do it first. I'm guessing that you could use a mustang aftermarket K member in the cougar with little or no modifications. But I don't know about other clearance issues.
It is not the heat shield or the rear brakes, I check them both. I have yet to check The motor mounts. I'm hoping it is something simple! I will check the motor mounts tonight. It is driving me nuts! :-P. Thanks guys!
Hey guys, something under my cougar is making a metal to metal grinding sound when I get on the gas hard from a complete stop, or if I try to do a brake stand. It sounds like it is coming from the tranny.
I looked up to see if there was a service bulletin for something like that. the only thing I could find was that they said some of the Flex plates and torque converter bolts didn't have enough clearance so it would rub. so I took off the cover right in front of the bell housing of the tranny, and it all looked well. I'm stumped :-/. Any help would be great.
Hey Awesome job! That is going to be sweet when it is done! I had been thinking about doing this to my cougar sometime. I have a lot of things I "want" to do lol.
I did some searching around and I found that the stock wheels have a 28mm offset. I also found a place that has some rims that I think will work so I'm going to order them. they are 24mm offset so it should be close.
Hey guys, I'm having a heck of a time finding some rims for my 87 cougar. I was going to just get some 18s, but I can't find hardly any out there. I want the cobra R style rims but don't know what offset to get or what width will fit best. I Have the 4X108 stock rims on right now. Any advise would be appreciated!!!
And here is the place I got my roller rocker arms from, they're good and really easy to install. They say you get about 18HP and 20lbs of torque from the 1:8:1 ratio.
Thanks guys! I'm going to go with 18s. I think it is the look I'm going for. I will post pics when I get it done. I'm also finishing up with the window tint, so it going to be lookin' nice!
