Thanks, the place i got a quote was Budget Engine Rebuilders, and they could be . I originally got the car as a parts car, put a half junk turbo on it and got it to run. I got swept up in tbird nostalgia as my first car was a 87 tbird sport. I'm bummed the engine is trashed but the rear sub-frame rails are toast. oh well.

Thanks jangus for the oil manifold by the way, if I forgot to do so before!

I finally got mt 87 TC running, but it has a noise i fear the worst of, all though i don't think its bottom end. Anyway, I got a "ballpark" quote  from a local rebuilder (cleveland, Ohio). It was $1200. I know i have no idea what was involved in what they quoted me but that does seem high to me. Anyone care to share the money the sepent on a rebuild?

advice for replacement of this?



The p.o. blocked of the turbo feed after he destroyed the turbo line and killed the turbo. He destroyed the flare inside of the manifold block and my forced4 oil feed line wont thread in.

Thanks everyone, I am in contact with this seller, he is not sure if the IHI's he has are any good. I am gonna run a compression test on the car before i go any farther, oil is coming out of everywhere on this car (dipstick). There is no supply line on the turbo currently so idk if that is the best thing for it!

Its from car-part.com they list junkyards all over the country, and one near me is listed. They are always pretty accurate.

Sorry, I don't know what trolling is. Why would hire someone else to replace the turbo for me? I found one that is listed at junkyard for a auto. The listing does not show up if a pick manual. There must be difference, sorry to upset you sir.

This has probably been answered before, i have not had any luck finding the answer though. I am buying a 87 turbocoupe  with a bad IHI. It is a manual car, but i found a turbo for a auto car. Will it work? If so what are the drawbacks? The only reason i ask because i can walk to this place and get it.
