UPS shock and awe....

Yesterday I recieved a package (thanks 5ohbird !:D ) delivered by UPS, the shock part was the beating the box was given, and I'm in awe of the carelessness and stupidity of UPS. This isn't the first time I've had this from UPS. I definately would rather deal with FedEx, since I've never had a problem with their delivery practices.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the durability of Ford ECU's that have been banged around? Does it take alot of physical beating to render them useless? The ECU that 5ohbird sent has a few dinger dents from connectors on the wiring harness that was sent with it. I wont have any way of testing it for awhile, since I don't have my motor even ready yet.

Later today I'll try to get some pics up of the box, and the ECU dingers.

Repairing a lock cylinder that is frozen or sans keys requires a drill, gumption, and a midget on a tricycle.

As long as it wasn't used as a tire chalk and then the driver run it over, likely it will be fine... The boards are sealed(covered in epoxy)...

I have a A9L from a Mustang that couldn't swim and took a salc00cher dive during hurricane Izzy, it works fine... I did open it up and wash it out, then it set in the sun a few hours.

I've had even worse luck with USPS. At least UPS paid the insurance claims I put in when their monkeys bashed my packages. USPS refused twice on insurance claims even though it was totally their fault. The guy lied about where he left the package, then the lady in the local office hung up on me when I called to inquire about my claim.

it's insured if it's a significant amount of damage. but a few dings should not hurt it.

can you post a pic of the vcr box?

Was a little busy today, but here's the pics I promised:
The lighting in the pic of the ECU make the dinger dents look a little bigger.
Since the concensus is that the comp is probably alright, I'm not going to worry about it:D , it just bugs me that a shipping company acts so carelessly with packages.:yuck:

Just how big was the axe they were using on it?

Or did they hire the same gorilla that did the old Samsonite commercials?

The one claim that USPS wouldn't pay that really pissed me off was when I came home and an equalizer for my 20th was in the middle of the street in a thousand pieces. He "claimed" he put it on my front step which was 60' away :bs:

You know why they wouldn't accept my claim? Because I didn't have all the packaging. I spent an hour hunting through the woods looking for all the pieces of the box that had exploded after the car ran it over in the street and the pieces blew into the woods. After I got all the pieces, I called & said I wanted to update my claim because I had all the pieces now. She said "it's too late to update the claim" & hung up on me. I went down to the local post office and that dumb redneck bitch working there told me I had to appeal the decision by writing a letter to some person somewhere. I haven't extracted my revenge yet, but it's going to be sweet when I do. These people live in my town!

It's amazing how reckless unloaders are.  I unload truck for a certain retail store with a bullseye logo and sometimes the only way to get boxes down from the top is to pull over the whole wall of boxes, smashing whatever happens to be under the falling boxes.  I realize that these aren't personal items, just retail goods that get written off, but I highly doubt that UPS's unloading practices are any different.  Their trucks are loaded the same way as the store's trucks.

I wouldn't ship nor support shipping with a company that is moving over with Dalejarrett from Ford to Toyota in the Nascar Nextel Cup next year. . . I wonder how all those people with the $450.00 Dalejarrett 88 Leather jacket will feel. . .
