progress on my new house Reply #6 – June 07, 2006, 12:32:41 AM when we lived in florida we had a b lock house with cocina on it (that's a florida stucco that uses sea shells)..... best house i ever owned... quiet and cool...... only reason i don't miss it is it was 1300 sq ft on a 50x90 foot lot with no garage.... blah...... looks like your house is going to be great :) Quote Selected

progress on my new house Reply #9 – June 07, 2006, 01:06:56 PM Here in Chicago ALL houses are brick. After the Great Chicago Fire the city passed an ordinance that all houses be brick. The only framing in our house is there just to hold the floors up. The house is almost 60 years old and the only leaks come from the 40 year old windows. I've seen house fires in the neighborhood where the interior of the house was gutted, floors and all, and the house still stood. The just rebuilt the interior and the house looked like new again.
