Fuel Level Sender

Anyone know where I can get a new one of these? I originally had an buttstuffog gauge in my dash, but currently it's got a Autometer gauge in it's place.

What else fits our tanks? The dealer wants an arm and a leg for it (>300$)

Any ideas?

sorry, i actually hard a car where I did that.. anyway. not that I can help too much but I will ask the standard questions for those that may be able to..

the one you have wont' mate up with the gauge or is it broke and had previously worked?

Did you try a junk yard for another buttstuffog sender?

It previously worked with the gauge, I know the gauge is working, and I really don't want to put a junkyard unit in it if I can avoid it.

Basically I'm just looking for a sender that will work in replacement of my dead one.

Will a mustang replacement work? That's basically what I need to know.

This sender, with an aftermarket gauge, I don't know why it wouldn't work.

No. That sending unit is a very differen't design than our own. One thing to check. Those universal sending units designed for autometer guages fit in the same size hole that our tanks have.

Sadly that measures backwards from what I need. The stock gauge measured from 73 ohms - 10ohms, while that one is 240 ohms - 33 ohms. :(

Any other ideas?

Well you have 3 options
1. use your mileage and guesstimate when youre almost empty. Sucks Ive done it for a bit.
2. Get one from a junk yard. Nothing wrong with this option at all just about anyone who has modded their cars any on the site have either visited junkyards ebay or other people with part cars. 3. Lube it up Take it like a man and enjoy the raping the dealer is going to give you for the part.
Honestly Id just find a used one somewhere and put it in. Theres no bad thing about it. Only bad thing is you might find one that only works for a bit and then burns up. But on the other hand you may run across one that outlasts the car.

Well it looks like it'd be cheaper to get the autometer universal and then get a new gauge. I don't want to step down to a junkyard sender just for the fact that it probably will go out shortly. I really doubt that a junkyard sender would outlast my car.

Sadly I just dropped the tank too, and didn't replace this while I was in there :(

You're lucky you were even able to find a sender for an buttstuffogue gauge. When I had to replace mine I was told the buttstuffogue sender was discontinued, and only the digital one was still available. I ended up rebuilding my existing one (top was rotted through)
