Check this out...something I've been working on the past few weeks

to help whittle away these cold winter days before I can get my car back out.
I originally had built a steel frame for my dual 12" fans, and I decided to build a shroud around it. I used the original frame as a backing, and spaced it out from the radiator with 1" rubber blocks. Then, I made the shroud out of .016 aluminum sheet. I made a trap door in the bottom (just in case) and riveted the shroud to the frame. Unfortunately I boogered up the piece on the right side where it came around the side to seal against the radiator so I had to cut a separate piece, but other than that, I think it came out pretty good considering the only metalworking tools I own are a pair of tin snips. Oh yeah, I also painted the fans...I decided the stock black was too boring :)

They were pretty cheap ebay fans, I honestly can't remember the cfm. Something like 1500?

And they are MUCH thinner. I think these fans are about 2"- 2 1/2" thick at most.

Very sweet

Im thinking about doing something similar, but with a more expensive, and higher CFM rated fan, so i only need to use one
It's Gumby's fault.

nnn man.  Those look nice.  Really cleans up the look of things, and the red fans will fit great with the color of yoru car.

I used to have a single 16" fan (that actually pulled more amps than both of these fans together), I decided to switch to the dual 12's for more surface area coverage.

It's definitely not perfect when you get to looking at it close up, but eh...it'll do what it was designed to do :)
