big engine Reply #5 – January 25, 2006, 12:48:39 AM psh, build a carbed 302 stroked, built to the wall....or build a 429 SCJ, mildly built....lookin for high rev's .. or tree pullin trq ?! Quote Selected
big engine Reply #6 – January 25, 2006, 08:01:31 AM A well built 302 can produce some awesome power, just make sure to use a roller block. Quote Selected
big engine Reply #7 – January 25, 2006, 12:08:31 PM 460's fit fine, a 5.0 with some work would be fine. 351 would fit fine, and you can use most of the parts from a 5.0 Quote Selected

For the price it'd cost to obtain and build a 429 SCJ, you'd probably be AHEAD to just buy a crate big-block. And it'd probably make more power too, and come with aluminum heads. Quote Selected

big engine Reply #11 – January 25, 2006, 10:09:18 PM you could build a 427 stroker with twin turbos and canted valve heads. that should net you about 1000 hp.then there's the 03 4.6L DOHC Cobra motor. it's relatively small in displacement but you can't tell by looking at it. 400 hp.or you could attach that 3.8 to a boat and go grab a 5.0 HO out of a Mustang and be good to go. big engine Reply #12 – January 28, 2006, 02:25:28 PM I heard the 5.0 engines on the '87 T-birds only had 20 more hp than the 3.8. I remember reading that somewhere cuz I dont like my 3.8 but from 140 up to 160 hp isnt much of a gain. But I guess when you get the 5.0 you can supercharge it. Quote Selected
big engine Reply #13 – January 28, 2006, 02:54:14 PM they (SO 302) actually only have 150, 155 in 88. you cant realy SC those. what you need is a 302 HO out of a mustang...225hp. Quote Selected

Should be a good start, get it freshend up.Ohh I forgot to mention, leave the tailgate down when you leave for the machine shop. That should take car of your problem if you drive really fast.
