I've got a couple on the right side that have grown in a little sideways and dig into my cheek in the back.  I deal with it because it costs too much to do anything about.

They're gonna tell you they need to come out no matter what, just so they can charge you, I think.  3 of my 4 are most of the way in.  Except for a couple days of severe jaw muscle pain they haven't bothered me.  I have a pretty bad underbite as well and they've told me that breaking bones is part of the process involved in fixing it.  No thank you.  I'm gonna leave mine go for as long as I can.  Hell, my friend's dad lived to be 62 and never had any wisdom teeth problems.

I had mine done five years ago. I guess Ange had an aweful fight trying to keep me in the car on the way home. I kept trying to go 'feed the ducks' at this pond in Dartmouth where we used to go............ to feed the ducks. She was afraid I'd fall in. :giggle:

I only had three grow in(the fourth one never came) and had them all removed at once.  They gave me a painkiller pen 15tail in the form of an I.V.  It hurt a little the next day but, I ate solid food anyway because I was starving.  They said I had to wait about 4-5 days to eat solid food.  That didn't happen.

I had all 4 of mine pulled this past summer, two days after my knee surgery.  I figured I'd get all the  done at once and be done w/ it.  They were all fully in, but one had gotten a bad cavity and had a nice hole in it, and had actually broken.
I had them put me out as I wasn't keen on hearing all the crunching, and I still wasn't in the best of moods after the knee surgery.
Once the holes stopped bleeding, the biggest pain in the butt was keeping the holes cleaned.  I was on some mild painkiller/anti-inflamatory stuff for my knee, so I didn't take any extra stuff for the teeth.  Really they never bothered me.  Just more of a nuisance.

Right now the only part is the visible swelling, I look like a frickin chipmunk. I want stitches gone too, they are too much of a nuisance to eat anything.

I've heard nothing good about people getting their wisdom teeth pulled.

I had all 4 of mine removed several years ago. They were in various states of impaction (How in the hell does a tooth grow at a 90 degree angle to the rest? :p )

I took one pain pill directly after the surgery and my mother made sure my face was wrapped up in bags of frozen peas. I felt 100% the next day and had very minimal swelling which was gone within 48 hours.

I think the key is to be very aggressive in icing the jaw to keep the swelling down.
