cracked windshield November 07, 2005, 12:48:48 PM I have discovered Saturday that my windshiled has cracked for no apperant reason. It was not this way when I went home from work on Friday. The car has sat until Saturday afternoon when I moved the car from the driveway into the yard at which time I had seen the crack. The crack comes up 6" from the bottom, about 2" in from the passenger side and turns to come across to the drivers side. Is there any thing that I should check before having it replaced? I have subframe connectors on the car but these have been the for since late 2003 without creating any other problems. Quote Selected
cracked windshield Reply #1 – November 07, 2005, 01:30:09 PM Im pretty sure all it take is a slight chip in the glass and this time of year (at least where i am) the temps change drasitcally from day to night, when its warm in the day then cold at night Glass reasts almost like metal will constrict and extract a little that could be all it is. windshield out Reply #4 – November 08, 2005, 02:23:43 AM Hi,I replaced my windshield two months ago. While its out is a good time to check your heater/AC parts.I replaced the heater core and cleaned the condensation drain tube, lots of leaves and stuff blocking it.The 'dash out' is a bear of a job, my personal record is 6 hours. But its a lot easyier if the window is out.You can lift most of the dash up through the hole and put it on the hood while its out.:D Quote Selected
