I'm probably going to make the switch sometime in June. I want to run the current combo at the track one more time with some different shift points. I want to optimize the combo before I change the intake. That will make it more of a fair comparison.

I can't justify the price of "good" heads. I've had my heart set on highports for a long time. Maybe ill settle for thru new fast as cast heads. Dunno though.

In the mean time, i went to a pick and pull and found 14 302 explorers before finding any foxes and walked out. At $35 a head, i think it would be worthwhile. $100 for springs. Any machine work though, and it would be a waste of time i think.

Never money to do it right the first time, but always time to do it again...

Just have a valve job done....as stated above, no real point in porting GT40 heads, unless you have the means and skill to DIY.

I emailed Tom Moss a week or so ago and asked about having my Cobra lower ported. He replied that even with ported GT40/P's that the heads were still the bottle neck in that combo.

I have about $2k in my heads. I bought used tw170s, but got them and realized that they needed to be gone through. Since I was torn into them, I had them CNC ported and polished, which opened them up quite a bit. I then topped them with Jim Miller roller rockers.

All in all, I am into them for a lot more than I ever expected, but they should be free flowing and support anything I will do in the future intake or cam-wise.

I have over $700 in my lightning gt-40 heads for the 351 turbo project. I bought them for $375ish...then have them cleaned up, valve job, mild porting, upgraded new springs for boost...that was $350....

Should make plenty of power on the 357 with a 75mm turbo on it.

I have a set of AIr Flow Dynamics Cleveland Cylinder heads SP4VR heads and they cost $2800 with. I sky tool steel springs for a solid roller camshaft. They are unported and are from Australia.
