Looks like I've crossed the line and have a mini Garagemahal.

It's been a few weeks and progress has been made.  An item which slowed things for a few days was some floor grinding to flatten out some humps.  That was not an enviable job.

Windows are all in and the spray foam insulation was completed yesterday.

Here's shots of the ground floor.

The upstairs appears bigger with the light colored insulation.

The Electric hoist and trolley to get the heavy stuff up there.

It's a pretty simple set up of 2 pieces of 2" angle iron welded together w/1" angle iron brackets.  The hoist is a Harbor Freight 440/880 Lb unit.  The bracket was modified for the wheels, which are for in-line skates.

Looks real sweet man. I may have missed something, but why did you step down the addition's roof? too much work to match it?

Thanks!  I have some recent updates to post on the progress.  It's getting close, but little has been done lately...

Living in a Historic District (or as some say "Hysterical District) has it's drawbacks.  One of the interpretations of "Secretary of State's Guidelines for Historic Preservation" is: you may not attach to an existing roof line.  Going above the existing roof is really frowned upon, so it had to be stepped down.  But hey, I was lucky they didn't require the walls to be stepped in too!  My addition is almost invisible from the street, so they let me slide on that one.

Whew, that would have really sucked! hey, what's a foot or so of headroom anyway, right?  Can't wait for those updates!

I like the idea of putting the electric hoist in the upstairs portion.  That should come in very handy!  Looking good (I'm jelous).

Thanks!  I've had a little snag with the hoist:  The switch was wired backwards from the factory!  Harbor Freight...
