Oh yes I did! They are a one piece plastic design that I don't have to worry about the armrest support and map pocket pulling away or breaking from cardboard panels like the 1983-86 models did. I also like the nicer integration of the door lock switched and beefier upper door pull straps.

Love your build. That dash looks really nice with the chrome accents and all. I can't wait to see the door panels finished.

Thanks! Just waiting to order carpet when I feel it's time to put it in. When I get the carpet, I am also going to order extra yardage to cover the lower door panels and rear window deck.

Today I bought a new thermostat housing. Hopefully this with the new gasket will hold up this time.

The thermostat gasket held up this time. After all the work of putting in a reman distributor which has a new pickup coil and a new thottle position sensor I seem to be back to square one. The engine runs great for around 10 to 15 minutes then it shuts down. Just before it shut down the idle started loping from normal to low continuously then it would finally stall. When I restart the engine it acts like it wants to run for a sec but will not stay running. Something is starving the engine... Has to be lack of spark or fuel. My next move is to remove the TFI module and see if it is breaking down after it gets warm. I already replaced it once. Remember I did remote mount it away from the distributor. The engine had been doing the same thing no matter where the TFI was mounted. I was hoping the engine was going to run long enough to check codes while running.

My symptoms seem to mirror what is in the post in these links:

Idle Air Control!!! Because it runs great while cold, but won't idle when warm. Characterized by a seeking idle, normal, then 300rpm-ish, then up, then stall. Or something thereabouts.

A friend had this problem with a boat he was servicing, as soon as I saw it I called it. Replaced and it ran like a champ. Started at about 112 Degrees F.

It does run just fine with throttle right? Can you hold rpm just after this behavior starts?

No unfortunately it stalls with increased throttle and just will not run again until the engine cools off. I have two things I need to check... The ignition coil and the ignition module... The ignition module has already been replaced.

This morning I had time to go outside and start the engine again. It's now hard to start cold. After a couple of cranks it starts, runs rough until it smooths out some. Then after a short time, it starts running rougher and the idle speed surges. Finally it cuts off. I start it repeatedly a few times and it runs for a couple of second then stalls again. That contrasts starkly to the night before when the engine started fine, ran for 15 minutes with a decently smooth idle then started surging when the engine got warm and wold eventually stall and not crank again.

I took off my TFI module and ignition coil and took it to work today. I tested both of them. The module tested good on several repeated tests. I tested the ignition coil and it's right on spec with a new one.  I think I am at my wits end. It makes me wonder if I should just give up on this car and find something later that actually runs vs. everything that seems to be involved including time getting this pile of junk to run before I can even progess to other mechanical work. I keep having moments of hope which diminish the moment that no matter what I do I cannot keep this engine running.

So, what codes are you pulling up? That would be a good start.

Initially I pulled up codes 13 No PIP, 18 No Tach signal and 63 TPS voltage too low/high whatever it was. I went in to replace the pick-up coil just because it was old anyway. When I pulled out the distributor I found a broken tooth on the gear. I ended up replacing the entire distributor with a reman unit. I replaced the TPS sensor as well. I discovered when I wiggled the wires on that while it was running the engine would stall out. I also replaced the thermostat because it seemed to be failing to open after the engine ran for a while and the upper radiator hose was not getting hot. Now the thermostat works. After doing all of that I still have the problems. Tested the TFI module and ignition coil and they passed tests checking out ok with the coil in range of a new one.

Tomorrow I will try to run more codes without the engine running and see if anything else came up. I am also going to pull plugs and check the condition of them since I replaced those new several months ago along with new wires. It would be nice to get the engine running long enough so I can pull codes while running. I did notice that the contacts inside the distributor cap and on the rotor have developed traces of crusty buildup and those parts are still new since I put them on several months ago. I know there has to be something obvious that is keeping the engine from running correctly when warm.

Well since my option to edit my posts has been revoked I will no longer be partiting in or visiting these forums. I can understand if it is not desirable for me to delete older posts despite any valid reasons I may have for doing so.  I don't have a problem with that. Most forums anyway have a time limit of a day to correct and edit posts.

Since Chuck W. sent a private message sometime over the weekend me asking about why made some deletions and did not give me a chance to respond before my first chance to log in today after a busy weekend, I am going away. It is clear to me there must be some people ganging up on me here that no longer want me here for whatever contrived reasons they imagine them to be. So I am gone for good. You got your wishes...

To those who have been kind and generous take good care and best of luck to you...

Hey, I don't think it was ment as anything personal. I think that it would have been better if you did not delete your old posts on the last one, but thats just me. Seems like alot of good information for someone that wanted to do that same thing was just lost. Maybe you would have been better off to make a different thread instead of deleting it. But that is just me, no hard feelings from me, and I wish you would stay.

I think the ability to delete post might have something to do with the new forum upgrade. I would see if you could at least talk to one of the mods here to see.

Take care.

Ok, first off...moderator does not equal administrator.  I have no control over your privileges on posting, editing, etc.  I sent you the PM asking you an honest question to see what the deal was.  You never did respond to my question.

I'm guessing this drama stems back to when you made some nasty, snarky comment when the board returned from its downtime.  The banners weren't working and you made a comment to the tune of "Screw the banners.  Since I can't get my car up there, I don't even care."  I could dig up the exact post, but this is how it came across.  It was a direct stab at Eric (and Baxo), and he responded appropriately.  The banners were a gift to the forum from those two (from before your time here), which they handled on their own time.  If they decided to not mess with them any more, that is their own prerogative.  Instead of throwing a fit, you could've offered to take on the task yourself, or offered to help.

If that's not the case, then instead of thinking everyone is out to get you, engage the mods/admins in a conversation about it.

Since you claimed to not coming back to the forum (and thus not respond to my PM), if anyone has any contact with Angelo, shoot him and email and have him pay the forum a visit.
