You can drive it now since you got it legal. And it didn't do any damage. When I first started reading this I thought you were going to say it came apart and beat up your fender or quarter. I'm glad that wasn't the case. Quote Selected

I thought it was going to at the time but I was going very slow because I knew it was about to pop so I think that helped it from flying apart. And actually I won't be getting new tires for it. I can't afford a $400 set of new tires right now, so a $20 used is gonna have to do till I put a whole set on the new wheels. Quote Selected

Project Black Panther: 1988 3.8L Cougar LS Reply #438 – February 26, 2012, 10:09:33 PM So not much going on lately... I have had to change my timing gasket out since the very ride that I took to test my new tire out the freakin thing blew on me. I don't know what the heck the deal is with all my gaskets failing on me. Every gasket on the motor was replaced brand new when I did the engine swap two years ago. I also got some new rear brakes yesterday but um, yeah not much going on...Did take a trip down to hang with Runnin_Wild this weekend though...:)oh and here's some pointless random pics of the car just cause I liked them Quote Selected

Project Black Panther: 1988 3.8L Cougar LS Reply #442 – February 28, 2012, 12:06:14 AM Woohoo My personalized plate finally came in today:D ...as if I didn't have enough cougar heads on this thing already:giggle:And last night I said what the hell and decided to put the buttstuffog cluster that I've had for like 2 years into the car. I got everything repinned tonight and installed the thing... I'm kinda wishing I hadn't done it though, since my gas and temp guages are apparently not functioning. Also I attempted the tach mod to get it to work properly for my v6 and that did not work out either, as you can see I'm still running my aftermarket tach because of that.... The speedo seems to be correct though, although I had nothing to properly guage it by, it seemed correct when I went for a test drive. Also I ordered new senders for my oil and temp hopefully the new temp sender will get the guage working since it is a different number from my stock one. As far as the oil sender though, I'm wondering if I actually needed it... Does that look like the correct oil pressure at idle normally? At first when I turn it on it goes up to near the top but still in the NORM range and then slowly drops back down to about center there.Oh yes, and one more thing... A quick PSA brought to you by me... When replacing brake shoes, always be sure to TIGHTEN THE GD LUGNUTS ALL THE WAY BACK DOWN otherwise you will be pulling of the road in a hurry, hearing all sorts of weird ans scary noises and thinking your 7.5" is about to grenade on you:dunce: Quote Selected

Project Black Panther: 1988 3.8L Cougar LS Reply #444 – February 28, 2012, 08:45:47 AM If you had a electronic cluster before, the gas level sender in the tank is different also. Quote Selected

Project Black Panther: 1988 3.8L Cougar LS Reply #446 – March 03, 2012, 08:23:41 PM Ok so I got a new sender for my temp and oil, threw the temp sender on and now it works, but its showing a lot higher than I like.... My old cluster/sender was showing me just to the start of the norm mark, just past C. This one is showing about 3/4 the way up once fully warmed up... is the new one just more sensitive, or was my old one bad? Idk.. btw the new sender has a red ring at the top, not a white one like my orignal, or a black one like some of the replacements I've seen.I also got some TC swaybars today, got the front all painted up. Had to order the main bushings for the front since no one carries 1 5/16 bushings in poly....:( Quote Selected
Project Black Panther: 1988 3.8L Cougar LS Reply #447 – March 03, 2012, 09:11:08 PM My temp sensor did that. I took it back and exchanged it. The second one was good. I got one for a '90 Mustang GT. Quote Selected
Project Black Panther: 1988 3.8L Cougar LS Reply #448 – March 03, 2012, 09:13:32 PM I never trusted them... I have real gauges in my car for that stuff along with the stock sensors Quote Selected
Project Black Panther: 1988 3.8L Cougar LS Reply #449 – March 03, 2012, 09:24:54 PM I'm about to as well. Going to install new gauges for water, temp and amps. Gotta figure out where I want them. Not sure yet. It'll take me two months to figure that out. Quote Selected
