First step to HO conversion

As some of you know I do not have a drivers license at the moment , so I have the luxury of not having to worry whether my car is tied up for extended periods of time ,
Of course it also makes test driving repairs or modifications a pain .
 
 My eldest daughter came to visit this week from Texas so I convinced her to take the bird for a spin , because to be honest the car has only been up and down my dead end road 12-15 times since I bought it and not actually out on the open road .
Well we (she) drove it about 80 miles in different types of situations and I am happy to say it drove and performed admirably .
One of the things I was concerned with was the AOD because the throttle valve bushing at the intake was in sad shape but not missing , but the bushings on the bell crank lever  were totally gone. I rigged up some rubber bushings for the time being  until I can get some bronze ones .
 The only issue we had was after shutting the car down it had to crank for an excessive amount of time to fire back up . I checked and it was not maintaining fuel pressure well .
 I had a brand new mustang pump so I dropped the tank and  found the rubber line on the pump assembly was split .
 I put the new pump in and it runs beautifully now. 
Now once I get an HO cam I will have everything I need to do the rest of the conversion

One step at a time.Believe me,I'm living that with the Sport right now.It's been a hellacuious 3 days.

Lol I keep getting lucky and finding really cheap items for the conversion, well actually its going to be a complete engine swap now.... I'm a little worried about the lines all going back where they are supposed to go but I don't think ill be doing that myself anyway ill prolly just let a guy who has the time and knowledge rebuild it and put it in for me... Lol by the way a cover for my GT40 tubular is gunna be A LOT of money for a little piece.... I guess the running horse emblem was rare or something....

I've seen a lot of GT-40 intakes installed on vehicles, but only a handful that still have that placard....

WOW haha maaaaannnnn I really wish i knew someone who could do that good of a job...thats amazin...that also took ALOT of time i bet....but yeah thats the running horse....apparently they are sellin high because no one can find one....but man....thats awesome.

It's just been chromed, not a lot of hard work in that...lol

Or at least it LOOKS like chrome...what the hell, i'm probably wrong...

i think they did the same thing Vinnie did, it could be paint but i'd say for that texture they sanded it all down and chrome w/ polish..... right?

No chrome for me,just polished.I actually enjoyed it....for my ar.When I'm polishing parts to sell on Ebay (or here),the joy isn't there,it's more like "work",but,it brings in the funds for the Sport. I'm doing some intake plates and other parts right now.It's really not that hard,but it can be tedious on certain parts.The GT40 intake would be a challenge.

There's no way that cover is factory...The tubular GT 40 was only offered on the Ford Lightning.  The regular old Cobras got the cast GT40 manifolds.

I like the intake I have,and want to re-polish it......as soon as I can get the Sport home.
