Heater core happy ending January 22, 2010, 09:44:55 AM I would just like to say hi to all the members and owners of this site. I stumbled across it by accident when looking for info on my heater core. Thanx to the how-to posted here and the awesome pictures the job went very well even with the EATC and floor console. I have changed many heater cores over the years and this was without a doubt the toughest one by far. Your site made it much easier, again many thanx and I look forward to spending good times on here. Quote Selected

Heater core happy ending Reply #4 – January 23, 2010, 09:52:57 AM What was the damage, if you don't mind saying. I'm curious to see what a mechanic thinks it's worth. Quote Selected
Heater core happy ending Reply #5 – January 23, 2010, 10:01:27 AM 250-300 would be my guess from my experience approximately 4 hours @ 65/ hour plus mark up on the part its self. Quote Selected
Heater core happy ending Reply #6 – January 23, 2010, 01:28:00 PM I paid $350 labor, I already had the heater core. Quote Selected
Heater core happy ending Reply #7 – January 23, 2010, 01:44:47 PM what are the labor rates where you live? seems alittle higher than here. Quote Selected
Heater core happy ending Reply #8 – January 23, 2010, 02:55:33 PM It's not listed on the bill, I'm thinking they have it broken down by the job. I cant complain, for quite a few years we did the barter system where I work off my bill and eventually build up a credit with them. We haven't done that for a couple of years now because he hired a guy that can be there all the time, well for those couple of years he was still doing work on my cars and never giving me a bill. So when I had the heater core done, he finally gave me a bill for it and for the last inspection I had done. I'm sure I owed him quite a bit for the work I've had done the last couple of years, so I got off easy. Quote Selected
Heater core happy ending Reply #9 – January 23, 2010, 02:58:48 PM Labor rates in NY are around $100 an hour now.....OEM Ford heater cores are at a premium now as well. Cheapest I've seen one recently was $95.....Late Model Resto wants $124.99. Quote Selected

A friend of mine told me it won't last if it's not from Ford. So I'm glad to see you've had good luck with yours. Quote Selected

Heater core happy ending Reply #14 – January 23, 2010, 07:45:29 PM My core retailed for $60 CAD but $35 with my discount for a genuine Ford part made in Mexico. Buggman look at your heater box area perhaps a vacuum line/cable/wires fell off during the job. You folks are posting some very nice pictures of your Foxies. Mines kinda ruff looking but runs like a top and has a lotta grunt. Quote Selected
