Who gives a shiznit if the man had a pet chimpanzee that was rumored to clean his bedroom.

Who gives a shiznit if the man was rumored to bleach his skin white. (he didn't, btw..)

What IS important...he was at the very top of his field. For that he has my respect.

All the eccentric stuff and the tabloids/media scandals and all aside, he was an icon of several generations and an idol to millions, dare I say billions..?

RIP MJ

Since Michael Jackson was 99% plastic, his family has decided to melt him down into toy lego blocks.. that way the kids can play with him for a change

i like alot of his music, no denying he was one hell of an artist/performer. as far as him being a child molester, i really don't think he did it but whatever. he had his demons and i guess if you believe in a higher power he will answer to it now. rip

I just dont understand how people have the nerve to say negative things about people that have passed away.  come on people. plastic surgery or not he was still human. RIP MJ

Because some reality needs to be injected into situations like this sometimes. People die everyday big deal, did i like him? no. I just think the whole situation is as stupid as the ANS deal and will be drug out.

just my 2 cents. Call me a heartless  but if it is not an immediate family member or a friends family member then i don't much care (especially about celebritys) .

While I don't believe for a second he ever molested those kids, and while I never was a fan (his music was played on the ghetto blasters on the other side of the school yard, my side played Twisted Sister, Def Leppard, Autograph, Quiet Riot, Iron Maiden, etc and we made fun of the people dancing and walking funny over there) I do find these jokes funny. Why? Because I believe it is the height of insincerity to say anything about a dead guy that you wouldn't have said while he was alive. Dying does not erase your past and make me respect you, and Whack Jacko had a very strange (and joke inviting) past. If I'd have made or laughed at a joke about MJ on Wednesday (which I certainly would have) I will find the same joke funny today. And I should certainly hope that people will laugh and have a beer when I'm gone instead of making me some hero and losing their senses of humour.

Would I make fun of him in the presence of his family? No. Not out of respect for him, but out of respect for his family. Since I know neither him nor his family, and since I doubt any of his family frequent this board, he's fair game.

ICON?????????:toilet:

I liked some of his stuff but to place him in ICON status, ??

So,, go ahead and tell all the the kids to study him because he was an ICON,,,, you have been molded into a proper mindset that is acceptable today.  Dont worry, you will come around to my way of thinking soon.

The man is dead,, he did a lot of goofy stuff and he was giving children "Love juice" in bed with him,, and all the allegations were too awful to discuss.

Wonder why so many people were settled with out of court????????  how quickly we forget only to prop up a Freak into Icon status.

and you guys wonder what the "f" is wrong with me???

while you were pre-occupied with your BS  "MJ" , Friday changed our nation but no one cared to pay attention.

This is not my opinion,, its facts.    People have stopped dead in thier tracks to pay attention to someone who they not too long ago discussed negatively.  I think the bulk of this country want to be on a team as long as they can see the team before they jump on board.  They cant think for themselves anymore.  They dont have values and the end result is proof positive as people call this guy an ICON,,,(just as long as someone else says he is one before you do).

I now see that you can entertain people and get away with all the nasty and disgusting habits and still become an icon.  thanks for leading the way for the rest of the younger viewers on the internet who search for a roll model.

As for talking about someone in a negative way after thier dead,,, well,,,,
When you mess with kids in that manner (even when he was not convicted) , your not going to get much support in my house.  Matter of fact, lets just morn  everyone who dies because wreckless judgment is the way things are done lately.  there are many people i am happy are dead, or have seen die. I am not happy MJ died though but i do not have any remorse for his passing.  I am honestly more neutral on his passing but very factual on his actions which justify my lack of sadness.  Im not heartless either, I just know where my head is. go find yours.,,,  lol

Nice thread,,I think my comments are charitable considering all i could have said.

He was in the right place at the right time with a good agent, that's all

Much like the way KISS got to where they were. Not that I don't like a good KISS song or concert, but if it wasn't for marketing, they would be freaks with makeup that wrote 2nd rate songs.

I believe jackson got the same break in life with his career and his moon walking.

Relating a 40 year career of writing the majority of his own hit music to the circus act KISS is one of the most bizarre things I've ever read in my life.

When one chooses to live in the limelight both good and bad will surface.  MJ wanted celebrity, publicity.  Yes, he had lots of hits 20+ years ago, more recently the only thing newsworthy he did was something bizarre/freaky.  Virtually no one has been interested in his music since the 80's.  I doubt his "comeback" would have been successful.  He had his time as a ultra superstar, but that time came and went.  Once one hits that status there is no way to maintain/reattain it.  Thus personal grief, and professional snipes are to be expected.  In the MJ case he made some great music (based on sales not my opinion as I never cared for him) as spectacular as his music could be deemed his later personal life could be deemed equally spectacularly bizare and far from the norm.

This is just how it is for celebrities.  Elvis had his time, made a comeback, was the butt of many fat Elvis and peanut butter sandwich jokes.  James Brown did much for his race, but will always have the stigma for his later lfe actions.  Ultimately this will be another celebrity who will be more successful in death than in life.

The passing of anyone is a sad event for those who knew them, cared for them, and loved them.  Since the majority of folks who make a big deal of these things never met the man, or knew the man I see no reason for the level of grief they may exhibit simply because they liked his music.
