30th anniversary T-Bird info!

A buddie of mine picked up a 30th anniversary edition T-Bird w/ 80k miles. From the info on the VECI sticker under the hood, its an '85 and it also has a 5.0L CFI motor. Can any body give me any info about these cars because to my knowledge I think its a rare package on the '85s and I will post pics of it soon when I get them.

BTW, He picked up the car for $200 from a guy whose mother drove and she started having problems with it satrting and running, all it needed was the battery to be charged and it crancked right up!

 And the thing that burns my ass is that he told me about it and wanted to buy it for a parts car! But he came back to me with "Well if your going to do that I gonna buy it, fix it and sell it!" I told him what ever do what you want, I didn't know it was a 30th. So basically i'm jelouis.

Yep, those 30ths are fairly rare, especially in good condition I'd imagine. Here's a link to pro-five-oh's page with some good info.

Don't tell your friend about this info! Try to buy it off him  ;)

My first one was a 30th anv. edition.  It's fallen into a state of disrepair and I'm parting it out.  It wasn't all that great when I bought it, it had been wrecked in the front and the rear quarter panel was dented.  Most of the car is gutted now.  If anyone is looking for one to restore, they can get it cheap from me, otherwise she'll go to the junkyard after it's all gutted.  Can be seen here:

From what he told me he is going to get the car road worty and give it to his mother in-law to replace her falling apart Corsica.

The car otherwise is in rough condition, the clearcoat on the hood, roof and trunk lids looks like its been baked away. The side moulding are white from age, all the emblems look old aged, the head liner is falling, the door panel on the driver side is falling apart, the interior is ok but has excesive wear on the drivers seat and drivers floor mat, the 30th logo has worn away. The rear passenger sail panel has turned grey from the sun and feels like it can turn to dust at the touch of your hand. The power intenna does not work, the glove box does not open. plus other things. I will post pics soon and let you all make a desision.

In my mind the car can be restored but it might take more money than he is willing to dish out. But it dosen't matter I think his mind is made up. he is not selling it, the car is going to his mother in law.

But no rust?  If not then it's still worth rescuing.

Nice score.  I think my email address is on that link, please have your friend register it in my registry database. (I'd appreciate the same info from your parts car, Amooset, and I'd also recommend saving the grey exterior trim, the blue taillights and any good blue interior parts, as those are good parts for 30th restorers and will be $$$ in your bank if you wait for the right buyer :) )

Real clean ones with low mileage go for $5000 and up, but otherwise the only people who care about a less then perfect 30th are people like us. :(

If it isn't blue and gray with no chrome trim it isn't a 30th anniversary. :(

Cool! another 30th saved from the crusher,or parts car heaven.consider yourself somewhat lucky. only 5000 30ths were built. i have personally seen 3 or 4 in the wrecking yards in my tri-state area.probably not more than a few thousand left today. i am the proud owner of a slightly modified one myself.
