Important Message from Eric

As you may have noticed, I've kept a low profile here lately, rather on purpose. It seems like there are enough knowledgeable people on the board now to help newcomers with their myriad problems. My role here has diminished as a result. Not that it's a bad thing, mind you.

The fact is that I'm getting eager for a new challenge. I don't hate our cars or anything, but I'm about as challenged as I'm going to get. I needed something new.

So...as of today I am no longer "in the business" with Cougars.

It hurts to type that but I am just facing up to reality.

Short and sweet: my father is passing along his 1977 Corvette to me. That is now my new challenge. I'm going to yank the stock anemic 170hp 350 and build up a nice engine (maybe even a GM crate motor), then get the body painted, touch up the interior bits, and maybe a set of nice wheels. A few of you may have seen it at the car show...it's in great shape for its age and is an excellent starting point. Everything is all there, just needs cleaned up and some TLC. Dad's not very mobile anymore and just doesn't have the time to take care of the car like he should. I thought it was his highest honor to pass along the car to me.

Meanwhile...the '84 will be up for sale very shortly. I'm still undetermined about the convertible. We will still have Cat Jam this year but it will probably be the last year for it, at least under my reign.

This might all seem shocking to you but it's been a long time brewing, to be honest. It has been 20 years for me. Now that I'm older and so is dad, I'm realizing what's more important. The brand of car doesn't matter, I just like cars, period, and this car is one that I've always had fun working on and being in.

If it's not raining when I get home, I'll snap some new pics of the 'Vette and post them here.

I will discuss with Carm and Alex about my moderator status here. In the interest of fairness I believe that remaining a moderator on this board without having a Fox car would be rather hypocritical. I'm still going to remain a member because so many of you are friends. You might just not see me that often, that's all.

I'm sure this will get a few people riled up but I'm man enough to pour my soul out into a public message board, so I must deal with the consequences. If it helps, I apologize if you're offended but hope that you understand in some way. This is more of a connection with my dad than anything. That means the world to me.
