Haha @ the show off comment. I actually realized that these heads are the single most expensive thing I've ever bought myself. Can't wait to put em to good use! May do just some very minor self porting on the exhaust side while I'm at the machine shop. They've known my dad and I for a long time and let us do our own work on the less complex stuff, which cuts even more off the price (if they charge at all).

Ok, quick update time:

Tomorrow morning I plan to finish taking apart the short block. Then early this week (Mon-Wed) I'll drop it off at the machine shop, so that'll be getting done as I finish getting all the last few parts. I'll be sure to post pics and such. Also, my 1.7 roller rockers should be here Monday, so that'll be the last of the mandatory engine parts.

So definitely be keeping on eye on my parts list in the OP; it's starting to click away at a very nice pace :D .

At the moment, yes. I'm only going to get a cam if I have extra money at the end of the project; I've also considered getting an offroad H pipe and longtubes. Not sure yet.

Well, the engine is completely torn apart now. The connecting rod/rod cap bearings weren't too pretty; had some serious deep grooves in them. So did the main bearings. Cylinder walls weren't quite as nice as we had initially hoped either. I'm really glad we decided to take it apart and refresh it; it would have only of caused more problems down the road. Hopefully by Wednesday night, it'll be in the machine shop getting the attention it needs.

If I end up needing 306 pistons, does anyone have any good budget-oriented recommendations?

Haha yeah, didnt feel like taking them all out. I actually only took pics of 6 of em. And they're the Crane rockers that came on the Cobra stangs; have the Crane logo, but also the Ford logo and Ford part no. And these rockers look almost brand new. No markings on the rollers or anything. I doubt they were used much, if at all.

As long as they're 1.7s, rollers, and they work, I'm happy. I'm hopin the short block makes it to the machine shop today (Tuesday) or tomorrow.

Cool deal. In a little bit, I'll be headin out to the garage because I'm bored and I wanna sand blast and paint the Stang valve covers. I'll post pics when I'm done.
